Texas school district will allow limited viewing of the Inauguration
after previously stating that it interfered with the curriculum. This would be fine except for the fact that they allowed the viewing of the inauguration of Bush.:eyes:
This is an outrage. It seems like they need MORE than angry parents to help them realize that this is an outrage. Perhaps the ACLU would be interested in this? Oh...and the policy was "recently" changed.:eyes:

>>>snip
Last week administrators in the Keller Independent School District decided that students there would not watch the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States Barack Obama.

>>>snip
With the reversal, KISD students, curriculum Kindergarten through 12th grades, will be allowed to watch the inauguration if it occurs during their Social Studies or U.S. History class. The KISD website states, "Variances in viewings will be based on schedules, age appropriateness and technology."

"Now they're saying they will allow it – only in the circumstance that it's a Social Studies class," said the Associate Director of the United Educators Association, Larry West. "What if I'm in math class at noon? That means I can't watch it. I can't watch it live. It's like watching the Super Bowl on rerun – it's just not the same thing."

>>>snip
A Keller ISD spokesperson confirmed that all students were allowed to watch the 2005 presidential inauguration of George W. Bush. CBS 11 News was told that no policy existed in 2005 and that the school district was under a different administration at that time.

7. Girl, you need to move into Fort Worth.
I was SO wanting Lon Burnam as my state rep when I lived down south. I don't think I met a bluer fella when I was down there.

9. i used to live in urban east dallas, the bluest part of all
but i fell in love and got married. :)

it was good that he already owned a home, but I didn't like where it was.
I grew up in suburbia and I didn't want to be here again.

Even though it's RED, we live in a working-class, 35 year old small-house neighborhood.
Something that doesn't exist much over here with all the McMansions.
It's starting to grow on me, and the people are really nice - despite mostly RED.
Blue numbers were up, we're working on that.

But drive outside of our edition...ick.

11. Yep, so did we.
Our little place on Llano was torn down several years ago for a McMansion. We just sold our place in Rowlett before the bottom fell out. Now I'm in the icy north. :-)

14. Don't remind me....
I live in fabulous Keller.

This place has been overrun with gated communities and "contemporary" churches. Many of the SUVs around here stlll proudly display faded "Bush '04" stickers as if they somehow establish street cred.
