Can anyone recommend any books on the CIA & Mind Control?
I recently saw a TV show (I think it was an old Unsolved Mysteries rerun) about Frank Olsen and what happened or didn't happen to him. If anyone has read any particular books on the subject of MK ULTRA, I would love to read your reviews here.

13. Oh no, you found the "lattice o' coicidence"!
Repo Man, one of my all time favorite movies. :applause:

Speaking of the lattice o' coincidence, did you ever read the story about Presidential doodles and how one day JFK doodled a box with 9-11 in it, and on the same page underlined the word Conspiracy? Talk about the cosmic unconscious!

Google "Monarch Butterfly" (Is that the one?).

On Edit: You have to be a bit discerning when it comes to the online stuff; it is fascinating as hell, but it's wise to be skeptical of some of it.

WAIT: No, it's "Operation Monarch", not "Monarch Butterfly"!!!!!!

Sorry

24. It's project monarch
And keep in mind that the people speaking about it had their minds messed up. It's not likely that we are getting the whole truth in many cases(or even any of it). One of the prominent speakers for that in fact is still under control and is being used as bait to find others that got away.

7. The best book I've come across is 'The Search for the Manchurian Candidate'
Edited on Wed Jan-14-09 05:46 PM by arcadian
'The Search for the Manchurian Candidate: The Secret History of Behavioral Science'

By John Marks, he's former State Department. He and Victor Marchetti wrote 'The CIA and the Cult of Intelligence' which in my opinion is the best overall history of that agency though it is a little dated.

Also look for 'The Human Radiation Experiments: The Final Report of the President's Advisory Committee'. Clinton created this committee and there is a section about MKULTRA.

9. Thanks! I did read 'The CIA and the Cult of Intelligence'.
Pretty good, but like Fair Game, it was very frustrating to try and read between the lines guessing what was in the redacted material. Good historical perspective on the agency, so Marks seems like the right person to do a book on MKULTRA.

10. The Shock Doctrine
By Naomi Klein.
Reading it now and I can safely predict that this book will be one of those that has "life changing experience" in every chapter.
Every Duer needs to read this one. Her first chapter is on the MK ULTRA and how it connects to capitalism and our current history.

O is one of Dr.Olsens children

The Search for the Manchurian Candidate:CIA and Mind Control by John Marks is an excellant book on the subject.

Edit to add: Read up on Dr.Edward Bernays. He was doing his thing before the CIA was around but a look at his work is very relevant to any MKUltra research.

50. "Seriously"? I didn't ask for a book about what people "believe".
Regardless of how weird you may think the CIA's mind control programs are, it is not a question of belief. It is a matter of history. The CIA actually had mind control programs and real people actually died as a result. I'm looking for a book that has extensive research on this subject beyond what even a cursory search of wikipedia would detail on the historical record. Sorry if I sound like I'm giving a lecture, but your suggestion seemed dismissive to the point of being ignorant.

37. "Family of Secrets" by Russ Baker.
Haven't read it yet, just heard Baker interviewed about it, but he talks about how Prescott Bush had a hand in getting the CIA started over Truman's objections and why he believes GHW Bush had a hand in JFK's assassination:

"Family of Secrets: The Bush Dynasty, the Powerful Forces That Put It in the White House, and What Their Influence Means for America"
http://www.amazon.com/Family-Secrets-Dynasty-Powerful-Influence/dp/1596915579

Jane Mayer's "The Dark Side" is an astonishing account of how the CIA deliberately engineered the Abu Ghraib-Guantanemo torture curriculum for the purpose of ginning up bogus intelligence:

"The Dark Side: The Inside Story of How The War on Terror Turned into a War on American Ideals"

He is an American psychologist and has worked with victims of CIA mind control. A link to his book The CIA Doctors: Human Rights Violations by American Psychiatrists. http://www.amazon.com/CIA-Doctors-Violations-American-Psychiatrists/dp/0976550806/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1232071729&sr=1-2

The book contains the usual blacked out documents and some case studies. He does try to remain factual.

48. Straight from the horses mouth: Zbigniew Brzezinski, "Technotronic Era"
Edited on Fri Jan-16-09 10:41 AM by HamdenRice
I read this creep fest back in the late 70s, so I'm going by old memory. It was widely read on college campuses around the time, and this was around the time that CIA mind control scandals were being aired.

Brzezinksi argued, among other strange things, that the US already had the capacity to send signals or waves from satellites that could immediately immobilize entire hostile populations -- effectively putting them safely to sleep from space.

During the Iran hostage crisis, a lot of people were saying, essentially, so Zbig, when are you going to fire those satellites down on Tehran so we can waltz in and take back the hostages. One answer was that it was to minor an incident to give away to the Russians what we could do; another was that Zbig was lying all along.

There was also a lot of creepy stuff in the book about the US building a system of complete continuous surveillance of the entire US population.

Rather than read speculation, you might want to read what a guy who was in the belly of the beast had to say.

"The technotronic era involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values. Soon it will be possible to assert almost continuous surveillance over every citizen and maintain up-to-date complete files containing even the most personal information about the citizen. These files will be subject to instantaneous retrieval by the authorities."
...
"This will encourage tendencies through the next several decades toward a TECHNOTRONIC ERA, A DICTATORSHIP, leaving even less room for political procedures as we know them. Finally, looking ahead to the end of the century, the possibility of BIOCHEMICAL MIND CONTROL AND GENETIC TINKERING WITH MAN, INCLUDING BEINGS WHICH WILL FUNCTION LIKE MEN AND REASON LIKE THEM AS WELL, COULD GIVE RISE TO SOME DIFFICULT QUESTIONS."

--Zbigniew Brzezinski.
