The Difference between Democrats and Republicans
Edited on Thu Jan-08-09 04:14 PM by anonymous171
I found my old American government notebook recently. Here's what it said about the two parties:

Democrats: Health of the country depends on the health of its citizens, assets should be used to protect citizens.

Republicans: Government should only do for people what they cannot do for themselves (less government is better government.)

Do you agree with these statements? I personally think that the Democratic party has lost its way. We have become too "Republican-lite." Consider the differences between FDR and Bill Clinton and you will see how much the party has changed.

1. Ya, citizens have taken a back seat to finanical interests
Which is sad- the country is nothing more or less than its people.

4. Here, let me amend that for you

Republicans: Government will do anything asked of them for business
Democrats: What they (Republicans) said but throw in a very minimum wage

You were being a tad too nice

5. Not at all.
Republicans want to eliminate any and all programs that assist those who cannot do or provide for themselves. They want government to exist solely for the benefit of big business and making life more difficult for minorities.

8. The Congress forced Clinton to the right and Obama's doing the same thing.
FDR: Stinks, doesn't it, old girl?
ER: Franklin! 'smells', 'smells', not 'stinks'!

10. both parties now pursue pro-corporate agendas
"citizens" are irrelevant, except insofar as corporations are given the rights of individuals.
