For the new Senate, We May not Need 60.
For cloture votes, we may not need 60 Democratic Votes. Look at it this way, in the past, on cloture votes, some Republicans did indeed vote with the Democratic majority. The ladies from Maine, frequently did vote with us.
.. Now that the majority has spoken, don't be so sure that we will not get to 60 if some thugs say they will filibuster..In addition to Maine, Obama has excellent relations with Lugar, and has clearly tried to enlist Mc Cain to his side. (He was a "maverick" once..maybe again)
.. Perhaps there will be some others, unknown who, on occasion, can kill the thugs. The thugs are on the way out, for good. Those Republicans who want to survive, may aid us in trying to save this nation. We may get 60 more often than anyone thinks. At least we can hope.

2. Next week is the old Senate..
In the New Senate we will have at least 58 votes, perhaps 59. If Buris isn't seated. it will be 57. No one knows what will happen. I think Buris may get a seat, to vote, and we will need 2 votes to break cloture. I am saying it may not be as hard as everyone says it will be.

6. the old senate is gone, the new starts tuesday
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/01/02/AR2009010202278.html?hpid=moreheadlines

When the new session begins Tuesday, the Senate is expected to have 98 members, without those from Illinois and Minnesota. One of those being sworn in to a new term will be Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D-Del.). In addition to winning the vice presidency on Nov. 4, Biden was also elected to a seventh term, requiring him to begin the new session that his replacement will soon take over for the next two years.

3. 60 Democrats doesn't guarantee anything either
There could be a few Democrats who will vote with the republicans on certain issues, while some Republicans who will vote with the Dems.

5. I think it depends on the subject being discussed.

Perhaps the urgency of our current situation will bring a few extras on board. We will only need a few, and I think there are a few out there who will but the country's needs over the views of the thugs..

7. Obama Has 60+Million
voters on his side.
He was a community organizer.
He will soon own the worlds biggest megaphone.

When he calls on us to make our voices heard
I'd hate to be standing in the way.
