A friend of mine survived cancer like this...

Hi everyone,

I know it's very tough to hear this awful news about Elizabeth Edwards. I know
that cancer affects everyone differently--and that each situation is unique, but
I thought I might offer some hope.

I belong to a book club with several women; one of whom was diagnosed with breast cancer
several years ago. She was cancer free for a few years, until the cancer returned. She
had spots on her lungs and one small growth on her rib. She had the growth removed
from her rib and she endured aggressive treatment. I was always shocked to see her out
and about--and pretty much keeping to her schedule--as she went through chemo. She
did very, very well. The most negative thing that I ever heard from her--is how tired she
was.

A few months after the chemo, she announced to everyone that she was cancer free. They got
all of it. I was so happy and astounded. After reading about cancer that spreads
into the lung and bones, I felt as if we would lose her.

We didn't. It's been almost a year, and she is still cancer free.

I just wanted to offer a positive outcome. They do happen. Elizabeth is a fighter and
she's got tremendous support and a loving family.

I guess we wait to hear more as time marches on--but I wanted to share a cancer
success story that seems to mirror Elizabeth's in many ways.

She's back better than ever and her long black hair, which was completely gone, is back down to her waist.
