FOR ELIZABETH Donations/ find a family without insurance to donate to??

Sorry about that title--I had to cram as much as I could in there.

I have been seeing the threads about flowers and one of Elizabeth's comments stuck with me...she talked about all the people she meets in dire circumstances and referred to her own excellent medical care.

Would anyone be interested in trying to find a family in the Edward's area that maybe has a child that needs some type of cancer treatment that they cannot afford?

Or any type of treatment for that matter--I think that would be a wonderful cause in Elizabeth's tribute and it might just save a kid or a families finances.

Any one interested? And how would one go about doing this? Finding a family etc?

Just a thought (albeit a strange one!)

2. I have no idea which is why I hoped someone here knew...

I did a quick google to see if maybe there was a child's story of that sort in NC but didn't find anything concrete.

I think if there were people interested in this a hospital would have to be contacted and brought into the fold to make sure we got a hold of a legit case etc

I have never had any experience in anything like this!

I would think that financial divisions in hospital's would have that info but would they be able to give it out?

If this can't be done for this instance (I mean for E Edwards) maybe it's something that DU could do sometime--I mean so it would be legit with oversight.

With this many members even if people donated 5 bucks to such a cause
(voluntarily obviously) it could literally change lives.

There are a lot of families not eligible for medicaid with no insurance and they slip through the cracks (I know I just dealt with that! But NO I am not volunteering myself as the recipient lol)

This is something that has been kicking around in my head for quite a while and this morning Elizabeth Edward's comments brought it back to mind!

Contacting a hospital came to mind as well. The hospital wouldn't need to reveal the name of the patient but they would surely know about patients who can't pay their bills.
And just like for Valentine's Day, those who give would get something like a heart or could give out a heart. These kind of things usually work well.

them with free mammograms. We have a strong alliance with hospitals, mobile mammography centers, corporations,
associations, ministerial alliances, and women's organizations across the country.

12. I work for a non-profit rehab hospital

We have a Special Needs Fund that accepts donations for people who cannot afford to pay for care.

I suggest contacting a NC hospital and speaking to their admitting office to get connected to the right department. Here it is the Development Office - but it may come under another dept. elsewhere
