I'm so happy that history seems to have taken a better course. We will redeem ourselves, I know we will.

I'm just so sad (unspeakably sad) that some people I loved are no longer here to see that we were enlightened enough to vote for Obama.

She would have loved to have seen this. Does anyone else have someone in your life that you feel very sad didn't live to see this day?

But let's celebrate. This is our time. We can turn history around. I know we can.

My mother died in April, before we even knew for sure Obama had won the nomination. I'm so sad she didn't live to see this and miss her everyday.

This place has saved my life, or at least made my life more bearable. I was an angry sad soul who felt alone in my beliefs, but now I am hopeful for this new year.

7. Agreed. I found this site (and my sanity) in December, 2003!

I found a bunch of people (numbering about 33,000 members at that time) who validated my feelings that we, the American Taxpaying Public, were being propagandized to death!

Many have passed before us, but others have merely morphed due to tired out screen names or being tomb-stoned for strong opinions contrary to DU's sponsors or ideologically seeded mods. They/we are still here, but I miss the founders who have passed as well. This ain't the same place with all the blue dogs howling with every new edition of the NYT or WP. Imagine, having to quote something from the MSM in order to post in some forums or being denied graphics to illustrate a point. Censorship is insidious in our society...even here.
