Non-political New Years Resolution thread --- care to share?
Surveys show that only about 8% of individuals who make new year resolutions are successful at keeping them. Although I have been resistant in the past due to the contrived nature of it all, I will admit that I am behind in my fitness goals. As I approach age 50 in 2009, I'll own a greater sense of urgency. Hard to admit that I'm bothered by a number, but I'm a little freaked out about that 5 in front of that 0. How'd that happen already!?

I live an active lifestyle, but have felt of late those old injuries haunting me in all the familiar places. According to the charts, I am carrying an extra 20 pounds even for my stocky frame. I don't eat near enough organic and living food (vs frozen) and though I still have good muscle, I am terribly un limber. I need yoga again big time.

Both my girlfriend and I are single/divorced working parents, life is busy. Yet contrived or not, we have made a simple resolution to get healthier. And try to support each other in the process.

We DUers share many wonderful resolutions for our political future, but if we can support each other with one personal resolution - even better. Mine is simply to get healthier. We have worked out quite a diet and activity plan.

Feel like sharing yours?

Best wishes!!! :hi:

4. Me too.
Except all that thinking and decision making requires me to light up a few.

3. Start watching classic Dr. Who episodes.
I like my resolutions nice and easy :-)

Oh, and stop engaging in global warming discussions on DU after I have had too much Vodka.

Cheers.

6. I have two
1) finish my masters degree.
2) After that is crossed off my list, go back to working out regularly. Pretending I can do them both at once is setting myself up for failure.

7. Makes total sense
My GF tried to do 1 + 2 and way over did it - became exhausted. She bailed on the workouts and focused exclusively on the Masters (classes at night). Now she is done with all the classes and just has to finish her professional paper by May.

Finally she really thinks she can focus on #2.

Your being realistic and setting yourself up for success Iwfern. :hi:

Congrats!!!

8. I don't do new year's resolutions -- I do old year's resolutions.
That way, when I don't keep them, I don't have to feel guilty a whole year. Hey, that failure was last year's!
