Recalling Cold War days of innovation and UFOs (Hmmmm...)

Snip.....

But if watching a man go Mach 1.06 40 years earlier was weird, chasing UFOs was frankly out of this world.

Because of his dealings with the latest in aviation, Rizer was picked to go on UFO search missions in the wake of the alleged spaceship crash at Roswell in July 1947.

Put on alert, he was handed an infrared camera and put on a C-47 whenever a sighting was reported in California.

"They had to take it serious," he said. "People were demanding an answer."

Six decades later, some people are still waiting.

Makes me wonder a bit - he was in the military which now says it was not a UFO but balloons/listening devices. If they know that now then they knew it then so why bother to put this guy on alert and go on UFO search missions?

1. they new then and know now about UFO's
It's a huge cover up because the alien technology is so valuable to the military.

3. Yet they haven't really done anything with it.
What's the point of keeping it all locked up and secret if your best minds can't make much use out of it other than a microchip? Where the hell is the inertial motion without relying on controlled fuel explosions? Where is the interstellar travel? I have an idea that if every piece of UFO technology that the military is suspected to harbor was made available to MIT students, we'd have something useful pretty fucking quick. Is the problem the whole "devastating weapon" need that keeps it out of the hands of the people who might first find a better use for it?

2. One word: DISINFO
anyway those balloons WERE UFOs by the technical definition of the term

Those who've served... understand this perfectly well and it makes sense...in a military sort of of a way

that said, there is life beyond this rock...but beyond entertainment why would anybody visit us? (And yes there is life, even intelligent life beyond this rock, and yes I saw a UFO when I was seven...scary shit by the way)
