Mike Rogers just did a great job on Hardball
discussing the fact that Rick Warren is already starting to change his tune a bit -- some language on his website has been changed. Mike is calling for Warren to meet with members of the LGBT community behind closed doors.

1. That was masterful!
He stood that other guy on his head, just took it all away from him with calm reasoning and a fine statement of fact.

And I've got to hand it to Barnicle, who made sure the other guy didn't talk over Rogers.

Beautiful.

He defanged Warren and invited him in.

Mom used to say that you could catch more flies with sugar than with vinegar. But I never wanted flies, so I just figured Mom was weird.

Hey, Mom was right......................

2. I think that might have gone differently to some degree
if Tweety was here tonight. He certainly wouldn't have made sure Mike could finish his thought.

Some good might come out of this whole situation after all -- I knew I trusted Obama on this, even though I didn't think it was the best decision he's made so far. If Mike Rogers is willing to sit down and talk with Warren, he sees the possibility of changing his (Warren's) stand. Mike's a friend of mine - I just called to tell him he did a great job, but he didn't have time to really talk. I wasn't sure where he stood on this whole thing.

5. I agree. Tweety
would have done his own share of interrupting, trying to stir it up. Barnicle kept it low-key and focused. And I'm no Barnicle fan.

I've been betting that Obama, who was always three political steps ahead of everyone during the campaign, has done a very smart thing with Warren, even at the expense of earning the (maybe temporary) enmity of a lot of his supporters. I have to believe, because we won, and I will not give up on that victory before he's even sworn in. I have to trust him.

Tell your friend Mike that an old Washington lawyer said he did "a masterful job." He made things better for a lot of people today, I believe.

7. I think he did, too
He wasn't happy with the choice, but he can already see that progress is being made. That's good news.

4. IT kind of showed that Obama is not a homophobe and not naive, which were two charges I thought

were unfounded. So there was real value in it this evening for folks like me who preferred to wait and see what the end game is here. I think Obama told us...
