**Breaking** Kennedy withdraws her name from U.S. Senate consideration
DENVER - Colorado's state treasurer Cary Kennedy says she does not want to be considered for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Ken Salazar.

Salazar was picked by President-elect Barack Obama as the nation's next interior secretary.

"Senator Salazar has been an extraordinary public servant for the citizens of Colorado and the nation will be well served by his knowledge and expertise," stated Kennedy in a release announcing her withdrawal. "I am honored and humbled to have been considered for the appointment to Senator Salazar's seat. But, right now, with young kids, my focus and my energy is with my family. Kids are young only once, and it is a gift to raise them."

Oops, wrong Kennedy. ;)

I think she was introduced as "the next Governor of Colorado".

12. My vote for the Salazar seat is Diana DeGette.
She served in the House of Representatives for a decade, she's very progressive, she's fought for pro-choice issues and stem cell research among other things, and she's worked her way up to deputy whip in the House.

She's earned her stripes. She'll be an awesome U.S. Senator.
