Homeless Vigil in Denver
Edited on Sat Dec-20-08 12:28 AM by maryf
Although the traditional memorial day for the homeless is December 21, longest night of the year, Denver held theirs the 18th, see articles at links, and don't forget the homeless in your town...

6. Thanks for the link.
I was without a computer early in the week, so I'd missed that one.

3. Personally, I think the best way to end Denver's homeless problem...
Edited on Sat Dec-20-08 12:40 AM by originalpckelly
is to have the DNC visit all year round every year, that way the homeless will disappear like they did then.

God forbid we should open our civic buildings to shelter people in this horrible, crappy, and shitty winter weather.

4. Some places
advocates are opening up unused buildings and foreclosed houses to the homeless...sounds better than a cold night, and it certainly is a shame that at times like the DNC its outta sight outta mind for the homeless...:-(

5. Between that and having machine guns being openly worn by police thugs...
Edited on Sat Dec-20-08 12:48 AM by originalpckelly
I lost a lot of respect for this shitty country that week.

It's not like machine guns are intimidating to protesters (or supporters, as we were), now is it?

7. Being Homeless and just thinking about some of the police
Being on your case at any given point would be enough to raise the stress level...and the laws against being homeless are legion and disgusting...
