This is just plain wrong. Yoko, should you happen to read this, please whack Paulie with Maxwell's Silver Hammer.

By CURT WOODWARD, Associated Press Writer 51 minutes ago

Paul McCartney was introduced Wednesday as the first artist signed to Starbucks Corp.'s new record label. The former Beatle made an appearance via a video feed from London at the company's annual meeting.

5. He makes those albums all the time that get no airplay. He tours
to promote them, but that's it. Probably a smart move to get some exposure for his new stuff.

7. His last pop CD was great -- this move would get him some counterspace
where his stuff would actually be seen/bought, rather than buried in some corner of the Worst Buy. They can put it right next to the Starbucks Lennon Collection.

6. Good for Paul.
I always thought he was the least interesting of the Beatles, and I'm no fan of "silly love songs." But Paul seems like a decent man.

8. His last couple of CD's have been mostly mature themes w not much silly about 'em
Kinda happens when your wife and old friends die, and then you have to figure out how to pick up the pieces. Still you may not like them.

11. I probably would.
I always thought that Paul had a lot of untapped talent as a writer. I recognize that he had a real talent for what was commercial, from his Beatles years through a big part of Wings. But he could also write outrageously good lyrics that went way beyond commercial .... "Hey Jude" is one of the great songs. And he could do serious rock songs ... "Let Me Roll It" (especially live) is outstanding.

What CDs would you recommend? What are the names of the last two? (I might be near a music store in the next couple of days.)

Thanks!

14. Chaos and Creation in the Backyard
Chaos and Creation in the Backyard is probably the best of his recent records. The rest are pretty inconsistent. I'd have to go back to Band on the Run to pick a really outstanding McCartney record.

17. I liked
some of his early post-Beatles work. The song "Maybe I'm Amazed" is very good. Parts of "Ram" were okay. "Red Rose Speedway" had a couple okay tunes, and I enjoyed parts of "Wings Over America." And of course "Band on the Run" was his most successful post-Beatle album.

I bought things like "McCartney II" and "Tug of War," mainly because as a collector of Beatles'post-Beatles, I felt obligated. But those were painful to listen to.

It seems like I saw a 2 CD collection of (recent?) live music by Paul. Are you familiar with it?

I think I had read a couple good reviews of "Chaos ...." but never had bought it. I will now. I do appreciate DUers suggesting it. Thanks!
