WASHINGTON – President George W. Bush knows he's unpopular. But here's what matters, he says: "I didn't compromise my soul to be a popular guy." In a wide-ranging interview with Fox News Channel, Bush also praised the national security team assembled by President-elect Barack Obama, offered hope to U.S. automakers seeking government assistance and said the people of Illinois will have to sort out allegations that Gov. Rod Blagojevich sought kickbacks in choosing a successor for Obama's Senate seat.

Bush said presidents fail when they make decisions based on opinion polls.

"Look, everybody likes to be popular," said Bush.

"What do you expect? We've got a major economic problem and I'm the president during the major economic problem. I mean, do people approve of the economy? No. I don't approve of the economy. ... I've been a wartime president. I've dealt with two economic recessions now. I've had, hell, a lot of serious challenges. What matters to me is I didn't compromise my soul to be a popular guy."

Fuck you, you soon to be forgotten asshole.

2. Nah, he just threw it away for free, since he didn't understand what it was for, anyway.
I wish they'd bury him in Reagan's tomb. It would save airfare when I need to piss.

6. yep, that's what he will say that he made the hard decisions despite 'em bein unpoopular
but he also made the hard decisions which were just plain wrong. Also, his approval ratings began going south big time after Katrina. His decision to ignore it for three or four days while celebrating John McCain's birthday and strumming a guitar shows that he is a complete incompetent.

10. Yeah
He doesn't get that the choices he made as president actually caused more problems than they solved. It's his war so why complain to me about it if it's made him unpopular. It was his choice to ignore the economy for 8 years. Bush could walk into a room, fart and then blame you for having a nose to smell it.

11. He IS compromising soul NOW to spin his dreadful record.
The real truth is that George W. Bush was incapable of action when it counted. From failing to act prior to 9/11 to failure to act to help the military in Iraq, bush was a lead-bottom that couldn't move.

They don't care about the destruction they cause. When someone happens to point out
their destruction, and how most of the population can't stand them---they rationalize that the
destruction was justified and everyone else is flat-out wrong.

"Sure I'm unpopular. But they're wrong, ya see. The good Lord blessed me with intellectualmification.
Most seek that. But never find it. Kinda like Barney and his chew toys. Like ol' Barney, Murkins need
to look under the cushions...to find the truth. The truth that wars based on lies are good. That
murdering hundreds of thousands of Iraqi people is good for the nation. Sure, it's sad, but it's more
happy than sad because show them our freedoms through initiatives. And all that illegal
wiretapping. Sure, it's a privacy issue, but the American people have to look past their issues.
It's my job to make the tough decisions and listen in on their talks about grocery lists and what
neighbors don't cut their lawn. My will will not be bent. The bad ones don't get it. But I do. Someday
they'll thank me for torturing, breakin thousands of laws and putting the Constitution through
the my own personal shredder. Until now, I suffer for my gift of wisenation."
