1. Isn't that for the courts to decide and not public opinion?
Also, Aren't people presumed to be innocent until proven guilty? Even Maddow and Olbermann are guilty of ignoring this fact.

I wonder if the charges will disappear after he resigns just like Elliot Spitzer?

3. Sometimes you can prove a point by asking a question.

ON edit: I intend on using this poll to make a point at a later time. That is, if I can get enough responces to it.

2. I think it could end up that he just said a lot of stupid things and rubbed
a few of the wrong people the wrong way. I reserve judgment though, I really haven't paid much attention to the case nor do I care to.

4. What is he charged with?
All I've heard is conspiracy, and that can be hard to prosecute.

5. That's right. No money exchanged hands that we know of.
So I think that even though Blago is a corrupt and nasty political operator, this case may be difficult to prove without concrete evidence.

6. Have you considered posting this poll in the Illinois forum?
I suspect that you'd see a pretty different result if you did.

I live in Illinois and I have watched this train wreck as it has happened, and I cannot sit on a jury for Blag. I think he probably did everything they are charging him with and even more that they just can't quite prove. He was whoring his vote when he was in Congress (at times even against the Congressional Dems' bills, I might add) and not one thing has changed in the intervening years.

He's a nasty little SOB and I hope to hell they convict his ass and send him off to live with George Ryan--his corrupt predecessor--in a little bitty jail cell. He makes EVERY Illinois Dem or any elected official in this state just a little more suspect in voters' minds. Fuck him and the horse he rode in on.

8. The Republicans would whole heartidly agree with you. But you do live in one of the few states
provides medical care for all children and you also live in one of the few states that has it's own minimum wage laws and is one of the highest.

Is Blagojevich a saint? Hell no. He's a polititian.

9. A lot of the DEMOCRATS in Illinois agree that Blag needs to go.
Sigh. This is not a "party" thang in terms of the corruption. Blag has been a mess since day one (before, actually, but nobody likes to discuss THAT.)

That Kid Care program did not happen solely based on Blag and do not EVER make the mistake of thinking it did. That program happened because we Illinois Dems managed to organize and elect enough Dems to the legislature to MAKE that happen. Ditto on the minimum wage, the emergency contraceptive availability laws, and the attempt to move to universal health care in Illinois. Those bills got passed by women and men that got elected by Dems like me who were out there busting ass--not by corrupt Blago sitting on his war chest in Chicago a couple hundred miles AWAY from Springfield.

Part of the reason our KidCare program is not more effective is because Roddie boy has been sitting on payments to the docs that were willing to treat those kids for that state program. Part of the reason our folks who are medicaid patients can't even GET treatment is because asswipes like Blag have played politics with the fucking payments to care providers to the point that some of them have not seen payment in over a YEAR.

Part of the reason we have no budget passed is because that blowhard SOB has worked against the Dems in the legislature that are TRYING to do the people's business.

I get awfully pissy about being lumped in with the IL GOP simply because I have no fucking acceptance for ANYBODY that holds office to line their own pockets. That shit makes it hard for any of us to get anything done in this state and we have GOT to take our state back from the crooks. Just because somebody is a Dem does not mean I'll give them a pass when they fuck up.

11. What Republicans?
The republican party in this state is an even bigger trainwreck than Roddy.

Their opinion in this regard is meaningless. The party is on the verge of collapse and has been since 2004. They still have almost no power in this state.

So, insinuiting Laura is thinking like a republican is simply showing your lack of understanding of what's been going on in Illinois for the last 4 to 8 years.

7. He made some remarks about selling the Senate seat?
I'm glad I'm not a Governor. I'm enough of a smart-ass to say the same thing, even if I didn't intend to sell the seat.

On the other hand, I'd guess any seat like that is up for sale, just maybe not for something as blatant as dollars.

I wonder what the Kennedy's will pay (and in what form) to buy that NY seat for Caroline.

I sort of think Blagojevich is guilty, but mostly because he has shifty eyes and funny hair.

10. He very likely is, but I still reserve judgement.
The facts that I have seen don't look good for him, but he is innocent until proven guilty and I don't think we should judge his guilt until he has had a chance to defend himself in court.
