Mistletoe and time message to criminals

Dec 17 2008 by Dave Fox, Crewe Chronicle

CAREER criminals in South Cheshire are receiving a special Christmas card this year – from the police.

Between now and December 24 the cards, featuring a picture of a prison-style Christmas dinner on a red plastic tray, a plastic mug and an artificial tree, will drop on to doormats at the homes of long-term burglars, car criminals and violent offenders who are not currently serving prison sentences.

The message inside reads, “Christmas Time…No mistletoe or wine. Dinner bell ringing. You’re Doing Time.”

Below the rhyme are the Cheshire Police logo and three words, “Thinking of You”

The tone of the message may be humorous, but Cheshire Police say the thinking behind the cards is serious.

Assistant Chief Constable David Baines said: “A number of people have come to our attention over the past year through the crimes they have committed. We want them to know they remain in our thoughts over the Christmas and New Year period.

“The cards are meant as a reminder to these individuals that we will continue to monitor their activity. It is a message warning them to refrain from committing acts of criminality or face the consequence of a term in prison.

1. That kind of shit is uncalled
What about once you've served your time, you've paid your debt to society? It might even be construed as legal harrassment. If I got one first thing I would do is zerox and then send the copy back to the PD if the message...I'm thinking of you too! Why don't you go fuck yourself. Then I'd see an attorney and sue...even if you loose, it will cost the town a bunch of money. Probably thought up by some arrogant asshole piece of shit cop that was sitting around eating donuts instead of serving the community he was supposed to serve!!! All cops are worthless!!!!

2. I agree with you on the harrassment bit
And the worst thing is that this is allowed in the UK.

3. In other words, "Big Brother is Watching You."
How asinine and cruel.
