WASHINGTON (AP) — A White House spokeswoman said Tuesday that Iraqi leaders are the ones to decide whether punishment is appropriate for the Iraqi journalist who stunned observers by hurling two shoes at President George W. Bush from close range.

"The president believes that Iraq is a sovereign country, a democratic country, and they will have a process that they follow on this," White House press secretary Dana Perino told reporters. "The president harbors no hard feelings about the incident."

...

"I know that there are people in Iraq who are angry, angry at their situation. It's been a very rough five years," she said. "What we were there talking about, though, is how much progress Iraq has made because of our troops and because of the wonderful work of the Iraqi security forces and their military."

Bush has downplayed the shoe-throwing incident and even made light of it.

Perino said Bush was satisfied with the speed of the Secret Service's response during the incident.

4. I wish someone would throw shoes at her.
I'm so sick of her sourpuss asininity on TV every day.

5. Complete disconnect.
They're not "angry at their situation," they're angry at US, the creators of "their situation."
