GM has stored 50,000 vehicles?!

Subject: Something Smells Fishy

In the past 5 years GM has been storing vehicles all over parking lots in the boonies of Illinois. I have witnessed the unloading from the train tracks and they are driven to desolate spots 5 to 10 miles away. I am talking about 50,000 vehicles at the least. If anyone has access to know the difference between # of cars sold and # manufactured, you would almost assuredly find the figure GM is calling a loss in number of vehicles that have been written off. The reason is clear to me, They needed to keep supply low in order to keep their prices high or at least on a par with the other two, Chrysler and Ford. All of them are working together to break the unions and at the same time use over production hidden as a way of laundering money, The missing cars are worth a hell of a lot more after the plants close and there is a scarcity of vehicles. Oh, yeah, I can almost assure you they will close, the managers at the tops of these companies are con men, so don't say I didn't tell you so.

1. Anybody know where exactly?
I live "in the boonies of Illinois", near unloading stations for trains, no less. I'd love to know exactly where this is happening, so I can see if the vehicles are near me.

2. 50,000 vehicles?
Interesting, they would do something like that.

If they were hiding production, why not destroy the cars?

3. I don't doubt what you said, but I also read an article yesteday
that they're out of space at the ports because shiploads of imported cars have been coming in on ships but the dealers aren't taking them because THEY'RE overstocked too.

It sure sounds to me like although the 3 American car cos. are in the news, NO cars are selling!

12. that's because nobody can get loans
open the credit markets for car buyers/leasers again and then cars (American and foreign) will sell again.

5. This is complete speculation with no factual evidence to support it.
Take it with the requisite amount of salt.

17. no, but it does point up that cars are not being sold.
and in another link that I chose not to post because they weren't "mothballed", but did show that over 600,000 cars are sitting on car lots unsold.

it's not very hard to extrapolate that if imports aren't selling, Toyota is the best selling dealer in the US, then certainly US made cars aren't selling.

The major difference is: imports are stored at the docks and old military bases, US cars are "stored" on the sales lot.

15. There's a big difference.
This kooky-sounding letter is claiming that GM is hiding vehicles off the rolls, parking them out in the middle of nowhere (Where, exactly? I live in the middle of nowhere, and there's not a lot of places to hide cars) as part of some kind of money-making conspiracy.

18. Look at #17 post.
I will agree though that the "storing" of cars does have the ring of the 19070's oil myth of big oil dumping oil in the southwest desert.

24. I think I'm counting 2-3 Prii in that picture, too.
Perhaps these hybrids aren't in great demand because gas is currently cheap.

23. GM has to pay workers if they produce cars or not
This causes them to overproduce cars at times.

They used to send these off to rental car companies, but it suppresses the resale value of its cars sold to customers, so it could be more economical to write these vehicles off.

25. $1BUSD
Why not just say 100,000 cars are being hidden? Better yet, say 200,000. How about this: GM has 1M cars hidden and is worthless? Are we making sense?
