1. You're assuming people will remember this in 2 + years
Or that there won't be some new hot-button issue that we Dems can't get out in front of.

3. I agree but
worst case scenario three million job losses is a big political event and can shape those voters for a generation.

10. Indeed. The Depression created a Democratic generation.
The 1981-82 recession turned people conservative, even though Reagan did little to end it. These events have political consequences.

5. Iowa was the first to give the Republicans the finger.

Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and PA are going to make sure the ground the 'pubs are buried in is salted and blessed so they never rise again. Yes, the 'pubs are dead today. They just descended into hell, so your poll was quite appropriate.

6. They'll get slaughtered in Ohio
The Democrats in this state will hang this coming disaster around the necks of the Pukes with an iron chain.

They have totally fucked manufacturing in this state.

8. You have to fear that it no longer matters
They've done such a fantastic job gutting the country that it doesn't matter if they ever win again. They already won.

9. I think the Repugs just made themselves a regional party-and a smaller one at that
Edited on Thu Dec-11-08 11:58 PM by PFunk
Especially when some of the bordering southern states begin to kick out their middle-of-the-road repug reps. I also see a new 'regionism' start to creep in as north, and midwestern states begin to worrry/look more about their own regions and less about the south and other regions-if not america itself. I wouldn't be surprised if it also sparks a bigger anti-import/buy america movement. In short this will backfire against the repugs.
