So as it stands now are there 8 US Attorneys who have not been given congressional approval?

So as it stands now are there 8 US Attorneys who have not been given congressional approval?
I don't understand this. Did Bush sneak these 8 thugs into their jobs using the Patriot Act to avoid congressional approval and are they in office right now?

If that did happen they should be removed immediately. These guys will have Dems indicted left and right before the next election if they are in place and are allowed to continue.

Whats the scoop on this?

1. Well, with the repeal of the provision in the Patriot Act that allows
them to serve without Senate approval, shouldn't they now be subjected to Senate confirmation process in order to remain in office?

2. Did the Senate vote today to remove Abu Gonzo's authority
to place new prosecutors in the Justice Dept without approval? I thought I heard something on The News Hour.
