Urgent e-mail plea from Jim Martin (Dem. candidate for US Senate running against Chambliss).
Dear Mac,

In less than 24 hours, the polls will open, and Election Day voting will officially begin. My staff has briefed me on where we stand, and all signs indicate that we will have a razor-close finish. We're on the verge of victory, but we can't leave anything to chance.

That's why I'm asking you to rush last-minute contributions to our office by donating online. Any contribution you make by 6:00 p.m. tonight will go directly to our final get-out-the-vote push.

Please click here to make a contribution of $25, $50, or $100 by 6:00 p.m. tonight. We need every last dollar to ensure that our voters make it to the polls:

No one knows more than I do how much you've already helped our campaign. You've been there for me time and time again. But if there's anything else you can do, now is the time to do it.

It's time for change in Georgia. It's time for a U.S. Senator who will stand with President-elect Barack Obama, not obstruct progress. It's time for an America that's united in our hope for the future, not divided by our differences. It's time for us to win this race.

We're making our final expenditures – ensuring that we have transportation available to get voters to the polls, placing the final radio ad buys, and making resources available to our voter protection team. Any contribution you make by 6:00 p.m. tonight will be used to put us over the top and bring home a victory.

Thank you,

Jim

P.S. The single-most important thing you can do to ensure victory is to make a contribution by 6:00 p.m. tonight. We need your last-minute contribution immediately.

Jim Martin is in the runoff of his life in Georgia against Saxby Chambliss. I was in Georgia last week and saw some of Saxby's TV ads. They are some of the lowest I've ever seen, with the exception of his ads against Max Cleland in 2002.

Remember: Saxby Chambliss is the quintessential chicken-hawk, a congenital liar, and, as proved on-camera last week, an inveterate racist. Chambliss is the tool-of-choice of Big Business. Big Biz and the GOP are throwing it all into this campaign.

In for a dime; in for a dollar.

DO IT! And keep this at the top of the page.

2. Thanks, Julie!
The kick is the trick. We have to keep this above the banalities that seem to pervade GD since the general election. Tomorrow is a critical day and people seem to forget it.

6. 'Unbelievable' sum of (GOP) money in Ga. runoff (USA Today)
A USA TODAY analysis of reports filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) shows:

• Chambliss raised $1.6 million in large contributions — amounts of $1,000 or more — from Nov. 13 through Nov. 21 compared with $462,000 for Martin. The FEC requires candidates to report large contributions within 48 hours once the campaign is in the final days.

• Independent groups such as the National Rifle Association's political action committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee spent $2.5 million from Nov. 8 through Nov. 26 in support of Chambliss — more than twice what outside groups have spent for Martin.

• Conservative and pro-business organizations, such as Americans for Job Security, have spent $1.8 million on issue ads this month that stake out positions aligned with Chambliss.

What we are up against in Georgia. Not to mention the charismatic Sarah Palin plying her "Charms for Chambliss" around the Peach State today.

13. Who helping to get out the Democratic voters....Nobody, Dems seem satisfied as usual
Edited on Mon Dec-01-08 04:24 PM by GreenTea
Clinton was there to help, but who else could of really helped Martin and the democrats in Georgia against the lying fascist Chambliss?

59 senates seats certainly better than 58 not to mention giving a republican a seat for another six years when they will be coming after many Dem seats in 2010....

20. I got a robo-call from the President-Elect today.
But he didn't come campaign for Martin as I thought he might. A friend of mine thinks Obama had security concerns about coming to Georgia. My friend has a point.

The Martin campaign headquarters here in Macon was populated by loyal Democrats from out-of-state. I did not see the Obama infrastructure present here in Macon when I visited Martin headquarters last week to get yard signs to distribute to my neighbors. It was quite odd.

The United States is a LIBERAL Country.

I hope it made the deadline; It was 6:03 when it finally confirmed. Damn.

Keep the racist out of office! Vote for Martin and donate if you can. Also, you can download numbers to call from any state to GOTV at the Obama website. Move On is also helping out.

I'm sure any funds that come in later will be appreciated. Thanks for helping. I've been at it all day.

23. thank you for all of your work!
I'll be pitching in tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed. I posted a thread a few days ago asking for donations, too, but it wasn't as big of a hit as yours! Great to see.

do you have any idea how the internals look?

I only wish people had heard more about Martin's plans for Georgia because he has some great ideas.
