The world economy is not going to collapse

Stop growing? Sure. But collapse so that we're all scavenging the outback? Hardly.

But if you look at the posts here you'd this was the fall of Rome and the barbarians were scaling the gates as we speak.

I imagine the Romans
said much the same thing.

3. Interestingly, many continued to deny that Rome would fall, even after it fell.
There's a famous quote from some European Roman functionary chiding what he saw as the alarmist, saying that they had been predicting the collapse of Rome for thirty years, and that it had not come yet. This is in the sixth century, long after the Roman Empire had abandoned Europe.

11. Well the city of Rome
is still there. However the Roman Empire as it was constituted, isn't.

Nothing ever disappears, it just evolves into something else. You can even argue that the EU is the new version.

However, it's the centuries of horror between civilizations that we're trying to avoid. :)

that the party would keep going.

5. Oh, the PARTY is over
But the complete collapse of everything as we know it? Hardly.

Expect less money, less jobs and less goods.

9. True. Even during the depression
25% unemployment meant 75% had jobs.

7. Why would you believe this? Because the same dickheads that have
driven the world economy into the ditch so far are still in charge?

I really would like to hear why you think we aren't going to collapse.

12. First, do you know what 'collapse' means?
It means money is worthless

It means there are no businesses, no government. Every man or woman for themselves.

Now do you really see this happening?

16. Oh bullshit. I've lived in collapsed countries before. Detroit is not a failed state.
You can still call the cops and they show up

If a home burns, the fire dept shows up

If you have $10 you can buy goods

18. Since what? The riots in the sixties? I was there last year!
All over Detroit in fact. Sure, lots of burned down buildings. But I saw cops.

Even in Flint, MI, which is far worse, has cops.

19. That's your definition. I never read one like it from any one else.
Whatever the near economic future holds, it is going to suck.

20. you have a very interesting concept of what collapse means, but sadly you are wrong...
It's apparent you have never ready any of Dimitri Orlov's writings. He can explain it much better than I.

For instance...

http://www.energybulletin.net/node/47157

whether you want to believe it or not, we are in the early stages of collapse.
