Franken: "What to do we want? Patience. When do we want it? Now."
http://www.startribune.com/local/34517329.html

Four days before the recount starts in Minnesota's U.S. Senate race, more than 400 volunteer recount judges aligned with Democrat Al Franken overflowed a college auditorium this morning for the first of three training sessions.

. . .

Franken revved up his supporters with what he admitted was an oxymoron of a cheer, leading a chorus of: "What to do we want? Patience. When do we want it? Now."

6. We know he will have great barbs for Republicans in his Senate speeches
“When the president during the campaign said he was against nation building,
I didn't realize he meant our nation.”

5. Tell me abut the mechanics of the recount. Who will count? Where?
Will all the ballots be brought to one place and counted or are they still at the original collection spots and will they remain there? Who counts the votes? How long will it take? Can the public oversee the process? Will there be updated counts or just a final number? Tell me all.

7. They are counted in each county, or in a few cases major cities
So that in my county, all the ballots from all the precincts have been brought to the county courthouse where they are being kept in a place with two locks, where two different people need to be present with two different keys to open them. On Wednesday, the doors will be unlocked and the counting will begin. Some counties are starting a few days later. Smaller conties will take one day, my county estimates 3-5, I would guess MPLS/ST. Paul will take weeks.

There is a paper ballot for each vote which was fed into a machine. With the recount, each ballot will be reviewed to see if voter intent can be determined. So a circled name would not read in the machine, but would count for the recount.

8. Maybe I'm just a Minnesota chauvinist, but
I have great faith in our electoral process and officials. We take voting very seriously here.

If nothing else, he'll sell a boatload more books next time with all the publicity he's gotten. I'm still hopeful though. :)
