I really think everyone should just walk away from the computer for
awhile...

Decompress from the dramatic political highs and lows we all experienced over the last 8 years...

Take a few deep breaths and repeat after me...

We won...

We won...

We won...

At least wait until the guy is sworn in before we have at him...

And California, organize a proposition to make it illegal for any out of state interests to bank roll any state propositions.

Get that passed and then go at the electorate in an off year election cycle and work your asses off to get what it is you want...

1. Good thoughts, all of them...
We could certainly make it tougher for the out of state interests...

I doubt we could completely stop them, though...

Thank you for your clear-headed take on things!

:hi:

2. How 'bout we just stop legislating by proposition? What does the California legislature do, anyway?
In any case, good post.

3. They are divided along party lines, of course...
And this division, and unwillingness to reach across the aisle, makes it very difficult to get any meaningful work done...

So we get the propositions to take care of the business they seem unable to.

4. Seems kinda backwards to me, you know? What an abdication of responsibility on their part.

7. It is an abdication...
We are all very frustrated by it.

5. I believe every state has in their constitution the right to petition
to get on the ballot...

There were six statewide issues here in Ohio.

8. Of course!
But when it seems as though that's the only way to get things done...

Well, then it's too much.

13. Oh, and BTW...
I was just looking at my sample ballot. We had TWELVE propositions on it. Twice as many as Ohio...

Too damn many, and this is usually the case.

We keep doing their work for them.

It's ridiculous, IMHO...

17. Ironically enough, they voted him in.
Not sure what in the hell they were thinking when they voted him in. I guess Gray Davis really was THAT bad.

16. We need to wait until Obama is sworn in, but the deregulating asshats who got us into this mess--
--DON'T need to wait? Obama was all over McSame for promoting deregulation, and I jolly well WILL scream to the high heavens if Obama signals an intent to appoint economic advisors who advocate the same thing.

19. Taking a deep breath and telling myself a lie isn't going to diminish my real loss of rights.
So sorry, I can't agree with you.
