Feinstein Says Rove WILL get Subpoena
On CBS Face the nation a couple minutes ago, Senator Diane Feinstein, told Bob Schieffer that "Carl Rove will be subpoenaed." Period. She anticipated that Rove would "not want to come to congress," but this fact did not seem to dissuade her in the least. Just my opinion but it seems at least THIS Democratic Senator is willing to fight for what's right through the fog of "executive privilege."

And besides, if one wants to do the right thing, one doesn't hide behind BS principles that have been "traditional." Tradition is tradition, but the LAW trumps "tradition" every time. Or at least it should.

1. It has been traditional to use Covert CIA Agents as "Fair Game" I am pretty sure
Hasn't it? I am sure that is not the reason she will be wanting him to appear but IMO his "Fair game" comment is a very incriminating comment. IMO the outing of a CIA Agent is every bit as important as firing some Attorney's..

3. Rove will refuse, and the 'constitutional crisis' will arise, landing in the lap of the Judiciary...
THis will be pivotal in determining whether this country will remain a democracy with checks and balances, or if the Judicial Branch will protect a political party and its leaders.

I honestly do not know which way the Roberts' SCOTUS will rule on this matter.

IF they have even a limited ability to see what is coming next, they will uphold the rule of law and require Rove to testify and turn over documents.

4. That really IS the question, isn't it?
Will the SCOTUS (pack w/ conservatives) take even a cursory look at the long term consequences of part loyalty Vs. constitutional rule of law? Does the court, (since it is the only branch left that has not been severely co-opted by party politics - YET) rule in favor of the rule of law or in favor of party rule?

13. follow thru
SCOTUS has been infected with 'the disease' and will side with them.

Will there be impeachment hearings? Probably not.

And we're screwed until the next election cycle.

If you have any repug acquaintances, please keep shoving this at them. Maybe it'll at least keep them home on election day.

5. "This" Senator Sold Us Down The River
She has given this administration everything they wanted so far. At least I still have one decent Senator left. Maybe Feinstein has finally awoken from the fog she has been living in.

6. Not saying she's a paragon of progressive pressure
I'm only saying that in THIS instance she sounded quite strong in her statement that "executive privilege" would be challenged. The very fact that she said it as a statement of fact that Rove would be subpoenaed, indicates that she doesn't give a damn that the Bushies WILL pull the "executive privilege" card.

7. Senator Feinstein has been doing a remarkable job under dire circumstances
and she continues....

I like the notion of seeking the Truth and Rove should come forward, if called, to share his story....under oath of course...
