Teacher who seduced boy sentenced to 10 years

Female science teacher accused of plying 13-year-old with alcohol

WILMINGTON, Del. - A sixth-grade science teacher who was accused of having sex with a 13-year-old student has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Although of course it is fair to call it more than just MSM hypocricy. It is the hypocricy of society. Would you ever see an article talking about how a male teacer "seduced" a 13 year old girl?

1. In fairness you would, BUT...

American society is more concerned about what occurs between one penis and a single vagina than they are the actual murder of thousands of people. We are still a puritanical society and to a great extent, still believe in Manifest Destiny (hence the God Bless America crap on cars).

2. I remember being 13...

and it wouldn't have taken alcohol to ply me! Don't misunderstand me but one could say weren't most of the women 70-120 years ago pregnant by 13?

3. You're right. They'd use the word rape instead of seduce.

4. If the genders were reversed, it would read a little more like this:
Sexual Predator who raped a 13 year old girl given light sentence.

A male science teacher found guilty of preying on 13-year-old female and plying her with alcohol.

WILMINGTON, Del. - A community is outraged after a male sixth-grade science teacher who raped an innocent 13-year-old girl by forcing her to get drunk received a light sentence of 10 years in prison.

It's a hideous media double standard when a woman is found guilty of rape. It's one that the public laps up though.

5. Perhaps This Will Relieve You?
from the article:

Rachel L. Holt, 35, had pleaded guilty to second-degree rape.

7. That's a legal term though.
That's what she pleaded guilty to. She couldn't plead guilty to second-degree "seduction".

6. The ten-year sentence may also be a vicarious punishment

symbolically of Mary Kay LeTourneau as there has not been resolution whether she received enough punishment as she became pregnant with her "victim" as soon as she was out of prison the first time, and married him when she got out the second time. Society likes punishment only when it results in contrition, regret, and unhappy lives of the perpetrator to show proper remorse for what s/he did. I think in this case, the judge is going further in order to send a message out to future "predatory" female teachers with ideas about their male charges.
