the days ahead, the lies are going to proliferate (unless there is a transformation between and within the right wing followers. What is needed is some kind of easy to find source that would be like Snopes, but would work for the interim on behalf of DUers who need to be up-to-date in order to dispel a lie before it is implanted in the brain of those who passionately want to believe them.
Call it the The Lie Cut-Off. Or something better and shorter. A counter balance to Rush and the Reverends.
The lies are probably going to accelerate. The honeymoon is always too short whether we're talking about the next three months or the one that starts when Obama and his team move in.
The one I heard a couple of times yesterday seemed ridiculous to me, but the bitterness of the people who carried the message/lie was serious. I really wanted to counter it. Today I took some precious minutes to try to find something about it.
What I heard is that Rev Wright was on the Grant Park stage preceding the appearance of Obama and spoke before a microphone prior to the appearnce of Obama.
I looked at DU and didn't find anything. Google has something - a possible source for connecting Wright to the Park and then exaggerating it as Rush and others do. I only looked at about fifteen returns. I really don't have the time today.
PEOPLE - it took me awhile to find this - if we contributed as a group, based on good judgement it could help us all cut off Rush the and Reverends more quickly with reduced doubt. Sometime we only need confirmation of something ridiculous. Lies ignite and spread too fast in that world. It should not take the place of Snopes or any similar source. The need is to fill the gap between the lie and the truth as fast as possible so that we don't get sucked up into the lie and we don't have a reply. Archiving would find value as some lies move fast and some only move on the weekend. Acting fast is the key whether or not something can be proved quickly. A collective answer or opinion is better than nothing. The key is one place to go to. A LIE Cut-Off.
If you agree, ask Skinner with me. Here are two links and some quotes.

What I found:
1. From a blog:
"Wright Ads in Grant Park
4:30 pm EDT: Christina informs me that CNN has graciously provided the video feed for the general media area in Grant Park, which, from her description, sounds like the press equivalent of Hades. That, she points out, means that there are anti-Obama ads airing at the Obama celebration. She mentioned, specifically, seeing the Rev. Wright ad that the National Republican Trust has been running. Halfway through the ad, he stops and says, "I can see my house from here!"
It's funny, I tried to think of an equivalently scummy ad that could come on at McCain's party, but there aren't any that come close. That says something. The best we can hope for is that, right after a Sarah Palin speech, one of those "Holiday Inn Express" commercials will come on."
http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/11/04/election-day/2. One from Yahoo Ansers -
"Was Rev. Wright a speaker at Obama's Grant Park election night celebration?
I could've sworn I saw him speaking, but the networks cut away so quick. Only CBS left this person on in the background. If it wasn't Wright, then who was it?"

a. "I am sure I saw him too. I was watching MSNBC. They had a split screen, and they didn't switch to the Obama stage when he went up. Then pretty quickly they stopped the split screen and kept it on the other person speaking in the station. They went back to split screen when some other person went on stage.
I thought it was just me, but I was certain it was him. I only wish I would have recorded it right then! I was too busy checking other stations to see if they'd listen to him speak.

b. "I have been asking myself the same question all day. I have been searching the news and listening to talk radio all day to try and find out who this mystery man who looked exactly like rev. wright was at Obama's rally. My husband and I both swear that we saw rev. wright seconds before the networks cut away from the scene and returned back to their studio's. I want to know who this man was, and why is no one talking about it?"
