Alabama doesn't deserve a kiss, but can we get a hug?
President-Elect Obama got exactly the same vote as John Kerry. But at least we netted a House seat. That helps... a little. Our seats are now 4-3 Republican, instead of 5-2.

And Josh Segall, a former Paul Wellstone intern, lost "only" by six.

I'm trying to help get Alabama caught up in the movement that is happening before our eyes. But there's only so much one keyboard patriot can do. :D

And, my God, I am so truly giddy and amazed about President-Elect Barack Obama. I'm so happy for our country, I can barely stand it.

8. I'm sorry for that
I would offer to take Sarah off your hands, but I admit it would be only for "immoral purposes," and that's illegal across state lines. Just kidding. Thanks!

4. hugs from Indiana
Keep working at it... take it from one red stater whose top of the ticket finally flipped after 40+ years - only the second time for a dem as president in more than 60 years.

I am giddy as well!

9. Way to go salin!
I think we in Alabama should emulate Indiana. The new president didn't campaign down here at all in the general election. I wonder if it would have made any difference if he did. I'm not sure.

13. That was *the* difference here
starting with the long primary. No one ever campaigns for the May primary - until this year. Both candidates were active and it activated people. Then Obama kept sliding in additional visits (I think it was easy due to our close proximity to Illinois) and the ads have been nonstop for Obama. He became very familiar to Hoosiers. It also helped that while Obama was ever present, McCain didn't show up (in person or ads) until the last weeks. And those ads were fear, fear, fear - compared to mostly hope and focusing on Obama for the Obama ads.

It was a razor thin win - but the start of change in the state.

Hopefully the 50 state strategy will be increased in the coming years and Alabama won't be skipped.

Keep up the fight!

19. trends...
They always start out in California, usually in Berkeley. Then they spread to the East Cost. Then to the midwest. Then to the south. And finally Utah. :)

Just a little joke. No offense to my friends in Utah. :D
