Couldn't see Bruce at all, though, and very little of Barack because his teleprompter was in my line of sight. Thanks for posting all these pics, Hissyspit!

You can tell there is genuine LOVE in that family, unlike the freezer of a family that currently squats in the White House.

18. Just how cool is Springsteen? He's this cool!
I've seen Bruce 3 times in concert. The first time was in JFK Stadium in Philadelphia during the Amnesty Int'l concert (w/ the E Street Band), the second time was when he was touring by himself for the Lucky Town album and finally was at the FU Center in Philadelphia (First Union Center) with the E Street Band again. My best friend and I got really lousy seats but who cares, it's Bruce, right? Well, she had read online that if you have bad seats and get to the venue early enough, you have a chance of getting better seats.

We're sitting at the very top row, nothing but concrete wall behind us and we see this guy dressed in all black walking around. My best friend pokes me and says, "That's one of his roadies, they call them 'The Men in Black.'" So he's two rows down from us, talking to different people and then the people leave. Finally, he comes up to us and says, "You wanna go?" and I'm bouncing in my seat and shout out, in an entirely uncool fashion, "Yes!" He says, "You sure?" and I repeat my very uncool "Yes." He takes our tickets, wraps a hot pink band around our wrists and gives us new tickets.

I was front row center now at the show and it was one of the best concert experiences I ever had.

Basically what Springsteen does is buys up the first 20 rows or so of the floor at all venues, then he sends around roadies, who trade tickets with people in crappy seats. They then take those tickets outside and find people who couldn't get tickets and give them the tickets they took from the crappy seated people inside. That's how cool Springsteen is!

57. Billy Joel does the same thing
It's win-win. Wwho do you want to be playing to in your first 2 rows? Wealthy suits who got the seats as a gift from suppliers or clients or whatever, or True Believers who know every word to every song and love your guy enough to sit in crappy seats to see him?

I've heard about The Boss' MIB - can't believe you actually met them! "Rosalita" made me a fan in 1976, then I saw the Born to Run tour when I was in high school, and he's been my favorite ever since.

22. Many Thanks for Stills of this. Can you believe that CNN played much of his concert?
and the "wanna be Dem Cable, MSNBC" had Chuck Todd's show CUT IT?

Anyway...was able to watch quite a bit of Bruce and Obama and the WHOLE Obama Speech on that CNN (War Channel) ...so it made me happy and smile. I kept cutting back to MSNBC...who always honored Bruce because the Sainted Russert loved him...and they didn't do the job...preferring to go with "Chuckie T" for the "numbers."

Great Pix.....:yourock:

34. The rally was held on the Mall, next to Cleveland Convention Center.
As I noted on another thread, the inscription on the 1920s building, towering over the stage:

"A monument conceived as a tribute to the ideals of Cleveland builded by her citizens and dedicated to social progress, industrial achievement and civic interest Patriotism Progress Culture."

Chills.

37. Actually, no. The "mall" being referred to here is actually a mall in the old-fashioned sense,
i.e., not a shopping mall but a large expanse of outdoor green space.

It amuses me to see the AP captions referring to it as "The Cleveland Mall," because that does make it sound like a shopping mall. Nobody here calls it "The Cleveland Mall." It's just one of three open green parklike spaces known as Malls A, B and C. I think the one he was on was B, but don't hold me to that, I can never remember which is which.
