Flier raises ire

This mailer sent out this week against Democrat Andrew O'Brien has sparked criticism. Republican Robert Walker acknowledged that O'Brien has not pulled any dirty tricks



The flier targeted Andrew O’Brien of Lincolnville who is the Democratic challenger in the Maine House District 44 race for the seat held by Republican Rep. Robert Walker of Lincolnville.

“I thought it was in poor taste. When I saw it, I said “God, he’s getting desperate,’” O’Brien said of the flier.

The flier has a Halloween theme with a carved pumpkin and a photo of O’Brien. The cover states, “If Andrew O’Brien is using dirty tricks and scary half-truths to campaign now ... What spooky schemes will he pull on families and taxpayers — if you let him reach Augusta?" Next to O’Brien’s photo are the words “Andrew O’Brien — dirty tricks, scary values.”

The flier reached homes in the district on Wednesday and Thursday.
