No Need To Fixate On 60 Senate Seats. WE'VE GOT ENOUGH ALREADY!!!
Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 04:18 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
Too many keep focusing on the 60 number, as if it's a magic number somehow. But it's not! We don't need 60 from our side, we just need 60 overall! To give you even more reason to celebrate, I've searched the web and found some major bills the repubs filibustered so far this congress. So many of these cloture motions required 8 or less more votes on our side to pass. And guess what? WE'RE ALREADY GOING TO GET 7-8 SENATE PICKUPS!!!

So don't focus so much on the 60. As it relates to the Senate, WE'VE ALREADY WON!

Here's the numbers:

The Renewable Energy and Job Creation Act of 2008 (HR 6049)
52 for cloture, 3 dems not voting.

The Consumer-First Energy Act of 2008 (HR 6022, S 3044)
51 for cloture, 4 dems not voting.

Baucus Amendment: Tax Incentives for Alternative Energy (S.Amdt. 1704)
57 for cloture, 2 not voting

Stop Excessive Energy Speculation Act of 2008 (S 3268)
50 for cloture, 2 not voting

Medicare Prescription Drug Price Negotiation Act of 2007 (HR 4, S 3)
55 for cloture, 1 dem not voting

Orderly and Responsible Iraq Redeployment Appropriations Act (HR 4156)
53 for cloture

Levin Amendment: Iraq Pullout (S.Amdt. 2087)
52 for cloture, 1 not voting

District of Columbia House Voting Rights Act of 2007 (HR 1905, S 1257)
57 for cloture, 1 not voting.

Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (HR 2831)
56 for cloture

Employee Free Choice Act (HR 800)
51 for cloture, 1 not voting

The American Housing Rescue and Foreclosure Prevention Act (HR 3221)
48 for cloture, 3 not voting

Energy Bill : http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/12/07/senate-republicans-filibu_n_75801.html
53 votes for cloture

Medicare Fee Cut: http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/26/senate-fails-to-block-cut-in-doctors-medicare-fees/
59 voting for cloture

9. I wouldn't be too sure. If the votes are counted fairly, you're probably right. But...
You've still got 85% of the vote on electronic voting machines, optiscans and touch screens. Optiscans are just as vulnerable as touch screens to fraud, maybe more. The paper is meaningless unless there are audits, and people tend to give the optiscans a pass because they've got paper.

But I think the optiscans have been tilted (rigged) way more than the touch screens in past elections and am pretty sure they'll be manipulated this election as well. IMO
