6 Year Olds Paying Off The Deficit - blogger reports child support payments taxed
http://simplereduce.wordpress.com/2007/03/16/6-year-olds-are-paying-off-the-deficit/

We are supposed to receive child support. I received a notice in the mail yesterday which notified me about a new collection fee. This fee stated that:

<"}div class="excerpt The Federal Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, effective on October 1, 2006, requires states impose an annual collections fee for some child support cases….. Each year the State Child Support Enforcement Division will retain $xxx from your child support payments.[/div>

What? My children’s child support will not be received in its entirety. Instead part of the child support we were supposed to receive will be going toward reducing the deficit. This is against what the whitehouse webpage states:

{snip}

Does this mean that my children are not American people? The government thinks that taking food out of the mouths of children will help pay off the deficit? What about changing funding for the military or increasing taxes for wealthy corporations. Why do my young children have to pay for the deficit today? There is something very wrong here. How did this get approved?

3. Good lord. Now they're robbing children.
They'll steal anything that isn't nailed down and then come back for the nails.

5. It has to do with Temporary Assistance for Needy Families ( TANF)
A friend at another forum was talking about this. It has something to do with reimbursing TANF.

TANF families assigned their right to the child support collected for the time they were on TANF to the government. The state and federal governments could keep the support collected to reimburse the state and federal coffers for the TANF cash benefits paid to the family.

6. So if you are divorced and pay child support for your children,
the money is taxed.

But if you stay miserably married and continue to cohabitate with someone who makes you wish for an alternative to life and you pay for the same kids, that money is not taxed.

Okay . . . .
