"Tax & Spend" sounds a WHOLE lot better to ME
than the Borrow & Giveaway system we have been using since Reagan..

I know that Clinton's surplus falls into that time-frame, but instead of paying down with it, he bequeathed it to a drunken spendthrift with greedy friends, so it might as well have never existed in the first place.

It's time to call the bluffs of the "rich" who threaten to leave is their taxes are raised..Most of them have already "left" anyway..or at least the jobs they used to create and the money they made from their scams, have.

Our taxation is NOT the "highest in the world", no matter how many times a republican shill goes on tv and says it is..

Back in the 80's , the Boomers were made to "step up to the plate" and prepay their own SS for future use (stolen now, though), and to enhance the retirements of the "Greatest Generation" who were beginning to retire en masse back then..

We got socked with one after another recession that ate away at our paychecks, along with double-digit interest rates that were the norm back then..

If our dilemma is as bad as everyone says it is, we NEED a hefty tax increase....but ONLY to fund the "necessary" things..

There is NO reason for the enormous, bloated beast of a military budget we currently have.. If the only tool you have is a hammer, then every problem becomes a nail. Our country was brought to a standstill by a handful of very low-tech zealots...a $1B tank would not have stopped them.

Our military industrial complex is populated by very inventive smart people.. Let THEM become the leaders of our journey into 21st century GREEN technology..

The very rich among us, have benefited mightily from the stability and the bountiful workforce that allowed them to become obscenely rich.. Sure..they donate an original artwork (and take a deduction ) every now and then, and some build charitable "foundations". but in the end, they still wind up controlling their own magnanimous donations, and pay themselves for the "administration" on it all..

If we want to return to the "good old days" that Republicans long for so much, we have to go back to the TAXATION that made it all happen..

You cannot borrow yourself out of debt..
