Ashley Todd: breaking news on MSNBC
She HAS taken a polygraph test, inconsistencies in her stories, never talked about being unconscious in her first interview, mixed stories on whether she handed money over or not,

Polygraph results have not yet been released.

I hope the poor girl gets help, and I'm so relieved that this didn't fester for days before the truth came out.

35. I doubt the "poor girl" came up with this idea on her own.
The National Committee of College Republicans need investigating. She's their employee. She was in Pittsburgh working for them. What did they know about this?

mccain-palin will be throwing you under the bus!

I can smell the mccain spin from here --- Ashley Todd is some how in the 'tank' for Obama and this is one of those reverse dirty tricks to embarass mccain-palin campaign. ashley fakes the attack on herself to make it look like it was Obama supporter attacking her, then when mccain-palin jumps to her rescue/defense, she fakes a confession that she made it all up and her "fake" confession then makes mccain-palin look stupid.

Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 09:07 AM by Marr
Racism and Conservative politics really go hand in hand. It's bubbled to the surface in recent weeks, after they realized they're going to lose-- and it's the reason they were so willing to believe this phony story.

Really-- a "dark-skinned, 6'4" black man"? How obvious could it be?

21. report from Pittsburgh on msnbc just now: new questionable info -

Either the reporter misspoke, or Ms. Todd has another inconsistency, because the reporter said that she was driving around looking for a Citizens' Bank, when her twitter comments clearly show she was looking for a Bank of America.

The reporter also said that Ms. Todd said that her assailant mentioned Barack Obama specifically - and, as far as I'm concerned, this ups the level of seriousness if this does indeed turn out to be a fake. In my view, it goes from profound, felonious stupidity to profound, felonious stupidity with an odd variety of hate crime mixed in. That may not be a legal interpretation, but I am now very nearly convinced that this was faked with the specific agenda of demonizing the "black" assailant and connecting him to Obama, leading to speculation that "real" (white) McCain Americans are all potential victims of frightening black people - IF Obama is elected...

This is disgusting. For her sake, I hope she got mugged by some delusional person and the worst of it is over for her (though she'd be severely shaken for quite a long time as a victim of a violent crime) but I don't believe this to be the case. It's too cute by half, and I'm NOT trying to be humorous in any way. I believe that this woman was trying to create a racist/political event to spark more ugliness, fear and doubt.

Good grief.

I just hope I'm wrong but I see no glimmer of hope for that right now...

Police say inconsistencies in McCain staffer's story
Friday, October 24, 2008
By Jerome L. Sherman, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08298/922564-100.stm

Police say there are inconsistencies in the story of a McCain campaign staffer who told them she was mugged in Bloomfield on Wednesday night by a man who etched a "B" on her cheek when he saw a McCain sticker on her car.

Ashley Todd, 20, of College Station, Texas, spent five hours with robbery detectives last night at police headquarters, where she took a polygraph test. She told police that a man robbed her as she tried to take money from an ATM machine at Pearl Street and Liberty Avenue around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Ms. Todd told police she then began walking to her car, which had McCain stickers on it. She told police that although the robber had moved away from her, he became agitated when he saw her car, punched her in the back of the head, pushed her to the ground and carved the letter into her face. Yesterday, she said the man sexually assaulted her, a detail that police said she didn't mention in the initial report.

Police today said that security camera footage from the Citizens Bank doesn't show the incident, but it could have happened outside the camera's range. Police also said they have found no witnesses to the attack.
Ms. Todd has said she will return for further interviewing today and will help police create a composite sketch of her attacker.

--------------

seems to be confusion over ATM - anyone care to find out what ATM(s) are at Pearl Street and Liberty Avenue ?

she's also confused whether it was her mccain button or bumper sticker. about the button - in the inital "attack" he came up behind her, so he couldn't see the button at that time. then she moved away, was she backing up? if so, then the mugger could have seen the button, but then why would he punch her in the back of the head? if he punched her in the back of the head, she must have had her back to him - then how could he have seen the button?

23. I've seen MANY inconsistencies in reading all the articles on this
Every one of them seems to contradict another one I read.

In one, she said she had just left a campaign event and in another they interviewed the College Repube's guy and he said she was "going to" a campaign event.

She said she never got medical attention, then one said she did get medical attention, then one said she didn't get medical attention but her friends MADE her get medical attention.

She was looking for Bank of America but this happened at citizens bank.

Apparently she told the police that the mugger put the backwards B on her face, so she knew it was backward when she reported it?

This chick is whack. You got to get up pretty early in the morning to fool us Dems!

24. Even screaming neocon nutcase Michelle Malkin doubts her.
Why that McCain volunteer’s “mutilation” story smells awfully weird; Update: Police to administer polygraph; conflicting evidence at scene

Police planned to administer a polygraph test to Ashley Todd, 20, because her statements about the attack conflict with evidence from the Citizens Bank ATM where she claims the incident occurred, police said”…and more below on following her MySpace, Twitter, and Facebook trails…10/24…more fishiness

Throughout my career, I’ve covered dozens of fake hate crimes — campus hate crime hoaxes, Muslim hate crime hoaxes, fake noose hangings, etc., etc., etc. Most were perpetrated by liberals, but there have been some shameful ones on our side of the aisle as well.

I’ve reported on the great lengths that warped attention-seekers have gone to in perpetrating fake hate crimes, including beating themselves up, carving swastikas on their dorm room doors and walls, locking themselves in bathroom stalls, and burning down their own houses.

Which is why I’m not jumping up and down with outrage over Drudge-promoted story of a McCain volunteer claiming to have been attacked by a black man whom she accused of carving a “B” in her face after spotting her McCain bumper sticker.

She refused medical treatment after reporting the incident to police. Why on earth would she do that?

http://michellemalkin.com/2008/10/23/why-that-mccain-volunteers-mutilation-story-smells-awfully-weird/

Now I'm totally convinced it's a hoax!

32. This is being handled so badly. It should go like this:
"We deeply regret that anyone would suffer a violent attack. It reflects badly on everyone when such a thing happens. Please be assured that Senator Obama, his campaign, and his supporters find this totally unacceptable: a person should NEVER, EVER be attacked in any way for exercising their Constitutional right of expression. We wish Ms Todd a speedy recovery."

Now, let it go.
