Be prepared for Sen. Sarah Palin...
If Stevens manages to eke out a win, and is then booted from the senate, she will appoint herself, so she can be visible, for her '12 run..

2. You've just given me a dose of heartburn that'll last all day long.

But on the other hand, she'd have four years to build up her ever-growing resume of stupidity.

9. THEN she'll have a chance to "get in there with the senators and make some good policy changes"
Who needs the vice presidency?

11. I agree that is likely. However, she will have to run for the seat in 2010.
Any time a senator takes over a vacancy, they have to stand for election the next federal election.

13. A state that can send Stevens back for 40 years doesn't have a problem wtih
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 06:31 AM by Solly Mack
a corrupt Senator.

That's for damn sure.

Some people in the state might have a problem with it....but those few haven't been able to keep Stevens out as of yet.

14. She's Definitely Looking At Bigger Things...
How do you keep them down in Wasilla once they've seen the footlights of the big time? Especially if you're as ambitious as Sarah Barracuda?

I can't see her heading back to Alaska and being a good little governor...that's a boring job...especially now that she can't get away with all the per diems and abuses. I could see herself either taking Stevens seat, just like Lisa Murkowski took her old man's seat...or challenge Murkowski. She needs a national platform and you can't do it from Juneau. The other option would be to run for Congress...Gary Berkowitz looks good in dumping Don Young and she could make a run at that seat.

The interesting side story here is how Palin feels she's the star here...but she's not the only one. She'll run up against Mike Hucklenutz. A lot will also ride on who comes out of this election the strongest. We're already seeing the blame game...and it's sure to get louder after the election...with many claiming the party and Gramps wasn't "conservative" enough. If the party lurches further to the right, look for Palin's star to continue to rise.

Cheers...

15. I doubt that very much
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 07:48 AM by Bandit
Begich is going to win no matter how the Steven's trial ends up, and Palin will go back to being the Governor until 2010 and I believe she will be voted out and I also believe Lisa Murkowski will be voted out of her Senate seat as well. Unless Democrats continue to just sit on their ass and do nothing about the important things that is. Alaska like all the other state is becomming aware. Republicans have not served the state all that well and in fact are pretty much an embarrassment to the state. Palin is no longer the most popular Governor in America. In fact with all the scrutiny she has been under she is not even a very popular Governor any more..She will go back to Wasilla and maybe run for State Representative or Senator but her days in Federal Government are over before they even begin..

21. I really think she wants an anchor spot at Faux ...
... more than any kind of governator/presidentin' kind of job.
As we recall Dimson saying, "Presidentin's hard work!"

Methinks Sarah is allergic to hard work.
And any kind of critical scrutiny.

She wants to be fawned over by makeup folks and treated like a celeb when she's out on the town by doing nothing more than READING talking points.
