Pejorative words we can do without
Edited on Thu Oct-23-08 03:13 PM by Betsy Ross
Let's make a list and add it to the rules. Words we don't need to use on DU or anywhere:

Anything ending in 'tard for starters. On edit: 'tard comes from retard which is offensive to thinking people.

I would give up Repukes and Repugs as many have spoken out against what passes for their party leadership. I'm rather tired of name calling in general. I will give up FUCK John McCain on November 4 when President Barack Obama is elected.

2. I have a friend who says he'd like politics if it weren't for all of the negativity
I told him that I'd like football if it weren't for all the running, throwing, blocking, and tackling.

Yours is a noble wish, but it's not likely to happen soon.

4. Why?
Why limit ourselves with what we can say? It doesn't stop people from thinking those things. I'd rather know what someone thinks than have them appease me with the right words and think badly of me anyway.

When do we stop? At what point do we censor ourselves so that no one is offended?

11. I've given up many pejorative words, and agree in general, but..

disagree about trying to make others do so. Setting an example works wonders but not miracles. You're asking for miracles.

And have you ever read Catcher in the Rye or Lady Chatterley's Lover? They're considered literature and are required reading in many schools and colleges.

12. Well, you're going to have to resurrect all the pejoratives
when they start to do to Obama what they did to Clinton.

You know they will. We all know they will.

I'll admit "right wing Koolaid swilling asshole" is much more precise.

I have GOP friends who wised up and refused to vote for Stupid and still more who refuse to vote for Gramps. However, "Repug" and variations thereof will have to do for brevity.

13. Here's an idea
Edited on Thu Oct-23-08 03:41 PM by WarbirdForObama
Howzabout a menu of pre-approved posts, with pre-approved wording, that can be reposted with a simple HTML command, like the smileys.

Then just limit people to using ONLY those posts when participating here.

Hey, that'll be fun.

Censorship at it's finest "Of Course you are free to post here, and here are the pre-approved posts you can use to post here"
