For Those of You Who Can't Sleep Either, Obama by 12 (Zogby 10/23)
Edited on Thu Oct-23-08 01:32 AM by louis c
These numbers are keeping me up at night. Are we up 14 or 1? This is the most important election in 80 years, and there isn't much I can do at 2:30 AM (EDT) to change the outcome. Anyway, here's the Zogby numbers for today.

1. Sleepless in New England
Thanks. I can't sleep either. The thought that come November 4th I might end up hating America saddens me. If America screws this up I will never forgive you.

3. Here is an article and link detailing the poll...
Obama lead on McCain grows to 12 points

By Andrew Quinn

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama's lead over Republican rival John McCain has grown to 12 points in the U.S. presidential race, with crucial independent and women voters increasingly moving to his side, according to a Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll released on Thursday.

With less than two weeks before the November 4 election, Obama leads McCain 52 percent to 40 percent among likely voters in the latest three-day tracking poll, which had a margin of error of 2.9 points.
Obama has made steady gains over the last four days and has tripled his lead on McCain in the past week of polling.
"Obama's expansion is really across the board," pollster John Zogby said. "It seems to be among almost every demographic group."

snip> And independent voters, who have been the target of intense campaign efforts by both sides, have now swung behind Obama by a 30-point margin, 59 percent to 29 percent.

6. Zogby: "the AP poll seriously under-represented young voters and college-educated voters"
From this interview, which you may find somewhat soothing: http://www.saratogian.com/site/printerFriendly.cfm?brd=1169&dept_id=602469&newsid=20174280

Hope this helps you :boring:

7. I see Barack being President elect on Nov. 4th. I see him smile broadly - a lot of white teeth
I hear a roar of jubilation going around the world along with a groan of relief.

Then the works begins.

We're the One.

15. Wow. I'm awake now
I can't believe that so many of you are in the same boat as I am. I called into New Hampshire yesterday (5:00 Pm to 7:00 PM). good response. I came home, and started to worry about this phony AP poll. Kept me up until 3:00 AM. 5 hours sleep is OK. There's only 12 days left, then we can get some rest for a couple of months before we start to help President Obama fix this country.

8. Sleepless in Florida...
If we don't take the election this time, I'll be disenfranchised for the rest of my life. I'm 62 and don't have the energy to work this hard for a candidate again. I think we're going to do it...maybe not in FL, but the rest of the country surely has more sense than these people down here.

It's always darkest just before dawn, but that's still 3 hours away.

9. Sleepless in California
I don't know how many more presidential elections I'll see in my lifetime, but I do know this is the most important one I've ever seen. I'm excited, but I'm really tired. Bush has sucked so much energy out of this country and I'm exhausted.

Wish I had a beer!

12. I've been awake since you wrote this....wish I had gotten up (ha!)
earlier. Hate this sleepless stuff....been happening more and more lately. I even dream about the election!

I'm in Texas and I don' suppose it will turn blue but there are rumblings afoot. The Houston Chronicle has endorsed Obama and Noriega which is really a big thing here.

I know what you mean about the energy to fight...we're the same age and I have never seen anything like this election and I'm tired too. I am fearful that the election will be wrought with mcsame threats of voter fraud etc. Can't wait to tell a few repukes to get over it! Signing off....

10. what keeps me up at night is that they will use the ap poll to steal the election.
I heard the ap poll on the news on the radio they took it very seriously. Also, when I check my email at comcast.net they have the ap poll as one of their main stories. It's creeping the fuck out of me!

13. I fear for the same thing and I also think that's why we're frequently
hearing about the Bradley effect....because they'll say, "See we DID have some indicators that mcsame would or could pull this election off!" Sweet dreams are elusive anymore because I sense the repuke hatred is so great they will stop at nothing to win.

14. On MSNBC, they just talked about that poll, and stated that inside the poll,
likely voters showed a 10 point lead for Barack Obama or something to that effect. Commentator said that this was more in line with the other polls. So I'm not sure what that AP poll is about.

11. Sleepless in California
Dear gods I wish this was over. If I had known how stressful these last few weeks were going to be I would have filled out an absentee ballot like Mr. H. Then at least my own part in it would be done. I don't know if that makes any sense at all.
