Banks getting threatening letters with powder in them.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The number of banks and other agencies reporting that they have received angry letters containing a powdery substance has risen to 45 in 11 states, and there could be more cases, FBI officials said Wednesday.

The letters contained a message of anger concerning the "banking situation," one law enforcement official said on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.

The official said most of the letters have been sent to branches of JPMorgan Chase.

Two other officials said all the letters were postmarked in Amarillo, Texas. And not all of the recipients were banks, officials said.

Police investigate white powder at New York Times

NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Police Department is investigating a suspicious white powder sent to the offices of The New York Times.

The newspaper told employees that the substance was found Wednesday morning when an employee opened a letter on the 13th floor of company headquarters in midtown Manhattan. Police were called to the scene and are investigating to determine if the substance is harmful.

The newspaper closed one lobby to the building, but said it was still allowing people to come and go through other exits after the discovery.

The discovery comes after more than 30 letters containing a suspicious powder were mailed to Chase bank branches and federal banking regulators' offices in nine cities.

2. Some UnaFreeper copycat, no doubt. How many misspellings did the letters contain?
Now the Moderators at FreeRepublic have to go on alert,
waiting to delete this guy's account the moment the
