When the time comes, will YOU pass the test?
Our liberal creds are going to be tested.

When we win it back, we have to make a choice ..... reach out a hand to the right or keep slapping at them.

A perfect liberal would find a way to reach out.

And that's the test.

Will you reach out to the other side? Do you have it in you?

Will you pass the test?

1. The working class and the employing class have nothing in common.
There can be no peace so long as hunger and want are found among millions of the working people and the few, who make up the employing class, have all the good things of life. -- IWW Constitution Preamble.

http://www.iww.org/culture/official/preamble.shtml

I would never agree to such cooperation. Fortunately for liberals, I am not a liberal.

9. with you
Well said. I will - and do, all the time, unlike many liberals - reach out my hand to my fellow workers who have been duped into following the Republicans in the hopes of persuading them.

But I will not compromise with or surrender to the bosses so long as people are suffering at their hands.

No justice, no peace.

The violence done everyday to the working people around the world is the problem, otherwise who cares about politics at all? It is not "peace" to stop fighting back on behalf of ourselves and our working class brothers and sisters, it is surrender to slavery.

13. All people who are employers are not bad. Many employers are also workers.

2. I canvassed with a state rep incumbent today and we visited republican
households. They are voting for him because he reaches across the ailse and represents them even tho he is a strong dem. As much as I hated talking to these people, I realized that some of what they want is the same as what we want, especially on a local level.

I'm sick to the depths of my soul with the hate filled divisiveness that the neo con extremists have whipped into a crescendo of vitriolic insanity. To do otherwise is to be a carbon copy of them. And we all know how their divide policies worked.

or misguided. However, I can never reach out to the insane fundies who want to turn this country into a fascist theocracy, aka Palin fans.

5. We ARE reaching our hands out. They are the ones
slapping away anything that doesn't fit their narrow, uninformed ideology.

If you're asking whether or not I'll be willing to compromise what's *right* for the sake of harmony, then no. I am not willing. There are some things that are not black and white, where compromise can be reached--but when it comes to issues that are definitely Right and Wrong (like civil rights, help for the poor, and an end to corporate government,) then hell no. I'd rather stick to my guns than make deals with the selfish, the greedy, and the stupid.

8. thank you for this
dividing us is how they control us. these idiotic labels of "socialist" etc. incite that part deeply ingrained in the American psyche to inspire fear and revulsion. we need to watch how Obama does it - not by condemning, but by a gentle seduction with logic and truths.

10. In this case, reaching out means letting them get away with genocide.
I don't think that is a very liberal thing to do.

14. We can only reach out so much...
...before we are left only reaching and not taking action to make things happen. I am always happy to help a misinformed person realize truth, but only if the misinformed person will speak with me as a human being and not degrade to ad hominem attacks.

At the same time, taking action to "change" all that is wrong in this country is necessary. Talk only goes so far, even if it does help someone to realize truth. Someone has got to make "change" happen, since Batman, Spider-man and the Lone Ranger are NEVER coming to do so.

Looks like those someones are Us.

15. There was a study of a game which ended up showing quite a point
There was a study of a game about how you treat people, and how they treat you back. The 2 options were cooperate and don't cooperate. It showed that the best outcome was cooperate first, then reciprocate as you were given back. If the other person chose cooperate, you cooperated back. If the other person chose don't cooperate, you gave the same back.

So, I am always willing to give people a chance, but am also willing to look at the past, learn from the past, act with skepticism and give back what I get.

16. Fortunately, I'm not a liberl..perfect, or imperfect.
The Fascists will shoot you,
The Conservatives will applaud the Fascists,
The Moderates will watch the execution on TV,
And, the Liberals will cry over your grave and feel guilty for turning you in.
