PALIN on SNL.... WTF?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=385&topic_id=218850&mesg_id=218850

We were out last evening, returning home just in time to catch Palin on SNL -- :wtf: that was the 'big' appearance? she had a couple of lines and then just sat there while SNL cast did the sketch...

I kept asking my partner - "is that it? that's all? could we have missed an earlier sketch/appearance?"

my partner responded: "I think that's all there is, typical repub - let's everyone else do the work and then take credit for it"

what a freaking bomb of an appearance... I'll give it 3 nukes :nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

if they put a wig/classes on a crash-test dummy and set it in the chair - you wouldn't be able to tell the difference

1. She appeared twice,
once at the beginning of the show, then during the "Weekend Update" segment. You can watch them here:

3. What Else Could They Do...
From reports, she all but invited herself on the show and probably didn't first show up at the studio more than 30 minutes before showtime. The writers were in the cold...other than the stereotypes...and surely they had to feel awkward whipping up something for one of their favorite targets. Also, seems like Sarah Barracuda was making a statement by just being there...she didn't have to be funny, just her facetime and ego were required.

Remember, wingnuts have no sense of humor...especially in this venue. She was just proving she could walk into the belly of the beast...the dreaded SNL. Now I hear she's pushing to get onto Letterman...who I would imagine would handle her carefully. But think about this...here's a Presidential campaign going into its last 2 weeks and they're still trying to establish her "qualifications". That's pretty pathetic.

4. CNNI is running Palin's SNL appearance on its news trailer ad infinitum
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 07:30 AM by lebkuchen
"Palin appears on SNL with look-a-like Fey"

It is also running a trailer saying "Bush announces global financial summit" (against his own will).

You'd think the trailer would include "Obama appears before a record 100,000 Americans in St. Louis," in the name of fairness.

CNN doesn't include that record in its news trailer, curiously. I just e-mailed CNN.

11. No worries CNN and MSNBC can no longer *drive opinion* ... their little PsyOps clutch
is woefully out of touch with the mood of the American people.

To say the bloated overpaid pundits and owners of the M$M are "out of touch" would be a marked understatement.

The skit peels back the skin of the "ugly and crass persona" of the true Sarah Palin.

Black Comedy wise, yes, it's fucking hilarious ... and the joke is on the GOP and M$M.

15. Wolf Blitzer is on now....
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 10:07 AM by lebkuchen
He's starting out w/Powell endorsing Obama, an event difficult to ignore, even for Wolf.

On edit, he's got Rudy on, spouting off about socialism and left-wingism for what seems like, forever. Figures.

14. So, basically...
...what you're all saying is you don't actually WATCH the news, LISTEN to the issues, or RESEARCH your own candidates.

SURPRISE!!!!!!!

9. Palin vs Palin
At first I didn't understand, but--- this was brilliant. She thought she was showing that she had a sense of humor and could go along with a joke. What she apparently didn't realize was that she WAS the joke. It wasn't in the lines she had, but in what she had to stand by and let happen or else appear to be the ragging right-wing nut-case that she is. They boxed her in beautifully, and the best part is she asked for it. the rap was awesome.:woohoo:

10. Exactly ... It was truly driven home during "Weekend Update."
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 08:45 AM by ShortnFiery
The biggest insult to Palin than any liberal commentary could ever deliver.

OMG! I was rolling on the floor in :wtf: glee when they brought out and shot the guy dressed up in the "Bullwinkle the Moose" costume.

Damn priceless and bitingly insulting ... and dumb-ass Palin thinks she "ruled."

13. If she thought SNL was a challenge, she should see "Political Idol"
Tina Fey is kind compared to Laura Buck's Palin singing "All That Sass"

19. I thought she did pretty well
but there was nothing there that going to make people like her more as VP (fortunately).

The rap sketch was hilarious, btw!
