BAGHDAD - The U.S. military says it has detained four suspected insurgents in raids targeting al-Qaida in Iraq's leadership in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.


The military says one of two men detained in raids Wednesday is believed to have been linked with a terrorist killed in Mosul on Oct. 5.

That was the day the military says it killed five insurgents including Abu Qaswarah, the No. 2 leader of al-Qaida in Iraq.

The military says two more suspects were detained Thursday in Mosul. The city remains restive despite recent security gains.
