looking for a study conservative/liberal brainwaves
I was told about a study done where they took conservatives and liberals and monitored their brainwaves and showed them different images. Certain images indicated fear in conservatives while in liberals they indicated indifference.

Does anyone know what this can be referring to and possibly have a link?

1. I think you're mistaken.

Where would they find conservatives who have brainwaves?

Seriously, though, I haven't heard about the study you mention, but there were some posts a couple of months ago about one that showed that Conservatives tend to react more fearfully to a wider range of stimuli than "Liberals." If I remember correctly, it didn't involve measuring brainwaves, but rather focused on the language used by both groups to describe their reactions to certain hypothetical situations.

3. Hah! you guys beat me to it - I was going to say it's simple: conservatives: no brainwaves,
liberals: brainwaves.

But seriously, yes, I think someone posted some kind of article on here recently on this or a closely-related subject.

Study finds left-wing brain, right-wing brain

Even in humdrum nonpolitical decisions, liberals and conservatives literally think differently, researchers show.

By Denise Gellene, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
September 10, 2007

Exploring the neurobiology of politics, scientists have found that liberals tolerate ambiguity and conflict better than conservatives because of how their brains work.

In a simple experiment reported todayin the journal Nature Neuroscience, scientists at New York University and UCLA show that political orientation is related to differences in how the brain processes information.

Previous psychological studies have found that conservatives tend to be more structured and persistent in their judgments whereas liberals are more open to new experiences. The latest study found those traits are not confined to political situations but also influence everyday decisions.

The results show "there are two cognitive styles -- a liberal style and a conservative style," said UCLA neurologist Dr. Marco Iacoboni, who was not connected to the latest research.

7. Conservatives structured and persistent, liberals more open????
No way! They really found that?
Could have saved them a few bucks - a dictionary could have told them that.
