People appear to be pulling money out of mutual funds now at a faster rate. 43 billion this week.
BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- Investors withdrew $43.3 billion from stock mutual funds for the week ended Oct. 8, up from the $7.2 billion they pulled the previous week, TrimTabs Investment Research reported Thursday. Fund outflows have been accelerating as the credit turmoil continues to pound global markets. Equity funds that invest primarily in U.S. stocks posted an outflow of $27.3 billion, versus an outflow of $3.3 billion in the previous week. Meanwhile, funds that invest mainly in foreign stocks had outflows of $16 billion, up from about $3.9 billion the prior week.

4. Some of those investors are likely pensioneers and retired persons trying to salvage nest eggs.
Younger folks would be wise to stay in for better days.

6. Thanks for saying that.
I'd only be overly concerned if I were at or near retirement right now (and I really feel for those poor people, some of whom I'm sure voted for bush), otherwise leave it alone. Markets bounce back - they always do - and Obama and 60 senate seats are just around the corner!
