IDEA! Now that the Dow is so low the Government should BUY
700 Billion dollars worth of Blue Chip stocks while it is so low and then use the dividends to help pay for all of the programs
we want to run. Over the long term the market will recover and the Tax payers could make multiples of 700 billion dollars on the
investment.
Brilliant move!

Well that's my two cents worth.

2. It still has to go up, down, up, down, and up and down
About 200 times, getting bigger at first, and then it will go up and down a little less every time and the median will be where it finally settles

7. We can use dollar cost averaging to make sure we buy the most
at the best price. Hey, if it works out, we can use it to "bail out" social security. Right now, though, I'm concerned that the converse will happen.

3. You don't know it will recover.
The index is an indicator of how much money people have 'invested'. After this people may to give up gambling.

5. Yes, I remember when it broke 500 it was a big news day
The notion of what is a good P/E ratio is moving under our feet even as we type.

The world will look different on election day

6. Yeah but I know that over the long term it has always recovered
it might take 20 years but at least we would own something.

8. How about if they use our Social Security Funds to do so?
 Democrats thought investing government funds into the market was wrong when Bush* wanted to do so and I am fairly certain they would feel the same way now..

going to spend the money anyway.(Not our soc. sec. money but bailout money) we might as well buy up some cheap stock so that when the market recovers the taxpayers get the benefit rather than the people who got us into this fine mess.

10. How about they bail out my 401K (and yours) instead?
I'd settle for market value as of May 16, 2008.
