Don't fret about the unproven Bradley effect

I can't recall seeing any study performed with the goal of measuring the "Bradley" effect some--specially in the media--worry about.
Scant anecdotal evidence is given to support the theory that people lie to pollsters because they don't want to be seen as racist.

Yes, there was mayor Bradley from LA, who lost despite having a poll lead immediately before the elections. But did the effect apply to Patrick Deval, David Dinkins, Carrol Mosley Brown and other African American politicians?
Did it apply to Obama when he won the senate?

A significant representative sample is needed before we start worrying about a phenomenon that may not exist.

In Politico where John Harris and Jim Vandehei are talking about race stirring "uncertainty" over the race.
It is the media's job, of course, to pretend things are close, lest they lose readership from the right. They need Republicans to believe McCain has a shot in order to maintain their web traffic.
