Man shot three times in street by racist gunman - for wearing Barack Obama T-shirt

A man told today how he was shot three times in the street for wearing a Barack Obama T-shirt.

Dube Egwuatu was buying a mobile telephone top-up card in a south London off-licence when the gunman confronted him and glared at the top, which carries an image of the Democrat US presidential candidate underneath the legend "Believe".

The man then launched into a tirade of racist slurs, shouting: 'I f***ing hate n*****s" and urging 36-year-old Mr Egwuatu to leave the shop with him.

The man then left the shop in South Norwood but when Mr Egwuatu re-emerged, the attacker was waiting for him in broad daylight with a threatening-looking dog and holding a gun behind his back.

Realising what had sparked the increasingly violent assault, the terrified Mr Egwuatu zipped up his jacket to cover the image of Mr Obama and walked to his car.

Namely, saying he was shot and saying gun and gunman over and over, only later clarifying that it was an air gun. Still awful, but apparently just saying a man was assaulted doesn't tingle the editors like saying he was shot.

I'm not sure why people are thinking this isn't serious. The man was shot and injured. There have been deaths from air guns. One was a few years ago when a 27 yr old shot and killed a toddler with an air rifle. He was shooting from a 2nd story window into the street and shot a child that a teenager was carrying. The child was shot behind his ear and later had to be taken off life support.
