Wildlife group expands reach of anti-Palin wolf ad

http://www.bradenton.com/politics/story/922336.html

These are not the typical wolves of political ads - not the menaces depicted by George W. Bush in 2004 or John McCain just a couple of weeks ago. These animals are bloodied, gruesome victims.

As depicted in a Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund ad, they are Sarah Palin's prey. The commercial denounces, in graphic form, the aerial hunting of wolves in Alaska, a practice Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee, has supported as the state's governor.

The wildlife group is expanding the reach of the provocative ad. Starting this week, what had been limited to certain markets in Florida, Michigan and Ohio will now air in Colorado, Virginia and Wisconsin.

It also will air in Missouri in time for Thursday's vice presidential debate in St. Louis.

Last year, Palin's office announced the state would offer cash to kill wolves. Incentives included offering volunteer pilots and aerial gunner teams $150 for turning in the forelegs of freshly killed wolves.

The state said the legs could help biologists determine a wolf's age, while the money helped hunters and aerial teams pay for gas and expenses. A Superior Court judge later blocked the payments after conservation groups argued the money amounted to an illegal bounty.

-snip-

The ad has received widespread notice on the Internet and has been an effective fundraising tool for Defenders of Wildlife. The group says it raised $600,000 in the six hours after it was released in mid-September and says it now has raised $1 million.

wolves are exhausted. when the wolves are totally spent, they get off the planes and shoot the wolves point blank.
It is beyond horrifying. No person with a brain or a heart would do this. They want to be able to do this with bears as well.
I cannot wait for the barracuda to be sent packing back to Alaska..and let her face the people there who want to dump her.

15. Actually, they do shoot them from planes
Defender's of Wildlife's original video shows actual footage of someone shooting a wolf from the air. They shoot it full of buckshot, then land the plane to hunt it down and finish it off. There is no reason to make the wolves suffer in such a sadistic manner.

I created a video on this issue a few weeks ago using their original video and you can see it here:

13. too bad. A "broken heart" is nothing compared to the fear
and pain these animals feel at the hands of these freaks.

We are vegetarians--- for this very reason.

9. No, Palin and the criminal repugs go too far
closing your eyes to their cruelty won't make it go away. If the MSM would show honest images of what is happening in Iraq, Afghanistan and gitmo, people might start caring about what the repug criminals are doing there too.

11. Precisely. I think that ad should play everywhere and show people who the real SP is.
She pretends to be the mom-next-door. The real SP is not at all what she pretends to be.

12. it doesn't go far enough. People need to be horrified by
these images.

I used to hate PETA too--until I realized that grossing people out was the ONLY way to stop violence against animals.

5. In 'Never Cry Wolf' Farley Mowat tells about the time
he was watching a den where newborn cubs were living with their mom and a big Alpha male....one day, Mowat was watching the family but noticed the male was missing, and patiently he waited until finally he decided it getting late and time return to camp. As he turned to put away his stuff, he was 3 feet from the male, who was quietly watching him 'unblinkingly'
lol...
if there's a God, Lucifer and a hell, then them gopig freaks will be there with the hyena's and cockroaches, while the Wolves will be in heaven with us tree huggers...

6. I know three women in their 50's
who had never been registered to vote, that registered the day after this advert aired in PA. They are all very vocal Obama supporters today, and are looking to stay active in their local political groups after the National Election. This is probably one of the most powerful ads airing right now.

14. Great news about those women. I agree, this ad is devastating.
SP is not just the nice lady-next-door who made it with spunk and talent. She's a cold-hearted narcissistic sadist.

I believe the ad started airing in Michigan and supposedly was shown quite a bit in that state.
