Franken bypasses Coleman as voters react to attack ads
By Kevin Duchschere , Star Tribune

DFL U.S. Senate candidate Al Franken has moved into his first solid lead over incumbent Republican Norm Coleman, according to a new Star Tribune Minnesota Poll.

The survey, conducted Tuesday through Thursday by Princeton Survey Research Associates International among 1,084 likely Minnesota voters, shows Franken leading Coleman 43 to 34 percent. Independence Party candidate Dean Barkley is supported by 18 percent of respondents.

Franken’s lead is outside the poll’s margin of sampling error, plus or minus 3.7 points.

For Coleman, there is little good news in the poll. The number of voters who view him unfavorably continues to grow, the number who see him favorably is falling, and his job-approval rating has slipped to 38 percent — his lowest ever in the Minnesota Poll.

3. Woot! Go Al...
It's time we put a real comedian in the Senate. They could use some laughs.

We all could...

5. Here is my problem
I am here in MN/WI and I see the attack ads daily, and there are too many polls that are showing the Franken - Coleman race as a dead head, and Barkley won't go away. There was a recent article in the Duluth News-Tribune that showed that Barkley was taking more votes away from Franken than Coleman so that will be a problem.

9. Ah, yes, I remember it well--95 at the (Duluth) airport
50 downtown.

But I loved Superior. I loved the city forest ski trails, Wisconsin Point, the bike rides on the county roads out to and beyond Pattison Park, UW-Superior, where I taught part-time, the whole scene actually.

12. Hey stop it! You and mduffy are making me homesick. Before moving here, TX,
two years ago, I lived in northern MN for 15 years....in an iddy biddy town called Longville which is 125 miles west of Duluth. I surely could use Duluth's air conditioner!

16. The new Strib poll shows Barkley hurting Coleman more.
Still...Barkley pulling 18% is disturbing.

15. I made it.
I'm working on a couple variations. I'll post them in the Iowa forum in a day or two for anyone to use.
