Did Mika tell Willy (Morning Joe) "you're an ass" this morning during News you Can't Use
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 08:12 AM by Mike Daniels
Willy was leading into News You Can't Use around 6:55 with a story about Palin's flute performance at the Miss Alaska competition using the familiar video clip.

Even before he started Mika was on him saying that it wasn't right to pick on the performance. I didn't hear anything "off color" during his commentary but at one point Willy kind of blew off her concerns with (paraphrased) "Hey, if you have the material you have to show it off".

Right after that I swear I heard Mika say off camera...."You're an ass".

Was anyone else watching at that time and can anyone confirm that is what she said?

For some reason Mika seems to have some personal investment in Palin doing well in the debate and she seems to be responding negatively to Palin's recent troubles.

4. I'm sure she will, figuratively if nothing else..
but the media will trumpet her unprecedented performance.

2. I was watching that, but didn't hear it specifically..
she's been cheerleading for Palin hard all along, I'm not sure what her agenda is there. I guess as a woman she feels compelled to do so. She was caught on camera apparently putting vodka in her coffee cup yesterday though, so me thinks Mika has issues.

6. Sitting next to Joe Scarborough every weekday morning is enough
to drive anyone to drink that early in the morning.

7. She tried to justify her cheerleading for Palin this morning
with something about if Palin fails miserably at the debate that it could set back the possibility of a woman being a serious contender for VP or Pres. in the future.

I guess Mika doesn't subscribe to the idea that besides Hillary on the Dem side that there are at least 5 women on the Republican side that would have made for a strong VP candidate had McCain not sold out to the religious right in picking Palin.

8. I would say to Mika that if they didn't want to jeopardize a serious..
female candidate in the future, than they should have picked a serious female candidate. That's really flawed logic. I think Hillary Clinton proved that we will have serious women contending in the future, we don't need to cheerlead a total loser like Sarah Palin.

21. What's The History?
Didn't Ferraro already do all of this? There's nothing historic about Palin's candidacy.

19. First thing this morning
She claimed she was not cheerleading Palin out of any ideological sympathy - she claims it's because if Palin really screws this up, it'll set back women in politics (at least on the Pres or VP level) for years to come. I have no idea if she's just covering her tracks or what but that's what she said.

20. I always thought Joe was the show drunk...it seems now that it's Mika
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 09:44 AM by Mike Daniels
At least Joe acknowledges that Palin's a drain on the McCain ticket whereas Mika wants to defend Palin everytime one of her flubs comes up.

I figured the vodka thing yesterday was a joke but since another poster confirmed hearing Mika call Willie (finally looked up the actual spelling) an "ass" this morning I'm starting to wonder...

3. Maybe she just wants to stick to the issues.
It is easy enough to find issues about which Sarah is clueless. Why bother with Sarah's flute playing that has nothing to do with the issues?
I'm just guessing. I really have not seen enough of Mika to know whether she is trying to protect Sarah.

5. It's a fluffy segment they do called "news you can't use"..
I think she's bothered by the appearance that they're making fun of her (she IS an easy target), but Willy said if you find a video of Joe Biden playing the flute, I will show it in a continuous loop.

10. I don't think that's it.
Mika has said of Palin:

"Just as a woman, I am sort of in awe of her for many reasons. Five children, going back to work three days after having the fifth child. She shoots a weapon which I do and I like that. I'm gonna assume she's gutted an animal which I have."

It's in this video:

17. Thanks...Mika seems to identify with Palin. She has kids and has
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 09:18 AM by KoKo01
said she can't cook and figured it was better to get out of her house. I'm wondering about her Dad, Ziggy spending too much time with Cheney if Mika is so confident of her ability to kill and gut animals she shoots. Would have thought the "entitled" way she grew up might not have allowed for her to be a gun totin' sports woman. But, maybe a few expensive Safari's with trophies were more her style.

12. Maybe Mika's McCain-campaign-staffer brother told her she'd better
straighten up and start pulling 24/7 for McPalin or he'll release video of HER playing the sousaphone wearing legwarmers, toe socks AND an 'I Love Scott Baio' t-shirt.

Ah, the 80's!

14. Thanks for confirming that she did say it.
That show has really started to come off the rails since Joe's cat fight with David Schuster during the Democratic convention.

I guess that's the end of Mika being allowed to medicate herself during her coffee breaks.

I felt a little sorry for Willy. He looked like his feelings were hurt. I like Willy and think he needs to be on a different show. I didn't like Tucker Carlson's show but I did like Willy.

16. I always liked his segments. I see it as a poke at FOX which treats these stories as breaking news
Mika is definitely taking the Palin situation way too personally and it'll be interesting to see how she responds to the debate if Palin doesn't come off well.
