They are talking about prayer at work. Estimated 10% of company allow it to happen.

:wtf:

Nobody had ever actually made "prayer at work" a political issue before this, at least in terms of Christian prayer. It creates a curious situation if conservatives are going to start challenging the authority of the boss or the owner in the workplace. Do these guys realize where that kind of thing can go?

7. What would Jesus do?
I don't think he would like the "Mega Churches" - they smack too cult like for me and it's too similar to the money changers story outside the temple, you know the one, getting money for "services" provided, purification baths and sacrificial animals to present at the alter. But, you can buy a book, DVD or some other "divine" piece of merchandise. It's nuts, they all admitted it's Big Business and there is a market for their dollars. What ever happened to just living a good life by example?

It is corporate religion.

What ever happened to sacrifice for your religion to help people less fortunate that you?

9. holy lord...they're pushing the LEFT BEHIND series now!
Tim LaHaye is one of the most dangerous creeps out there, along with his wife. Founding members of the CNP, their GOAL is to make this a Christian nation, with a NEW constitution, based on the BIBLE. think I'm making it up?

check it out:

“Christian values should dominate our government… Politicians who do not use the Bible to guide their public and private lives do not belong in office.”
- Beverly LaHaye, Concerned Women for America

13. I can't believe they brought that up.
Pimping that book. Kirk Cameron (sp) looked like a zombie repeating the Left Behind Mantra.

:wtf:

I actually read several of lahaye's "left behind" novel. interesting SCI-FI, but the prosletizing gets really annoying.

Interesting how they are named "LEFT" behind.

12. How funny
Edited on Wed Mar-14-07 08:44 PM by symbolman
I'm in the Process of finishing up, within the next two days, to be printed for first draft perusal, my book, "The JESUS BOLT".. about personal growth of a drug dealing cab driver who is forced to flee Fairbanks, Alaska to a Job in the tundra, where he flies around in Helicopters, looking for Uranium for the Dept of Energy, while being chased by bears, naked from a village by native folks bristling with hachets and shotguns, back to the camp where the Vietnam vet chopper pilots are pulling their guns, crashing in the tundra, eventually meeting a Nam pilot - who becomes a 'shaman of the tundra' mentor to him. Teaches him to meditate, and perform yoga on mountain tops, while cleaning up from drugs..

The Jesus Bolt is a metaphor for the actual jesus bolt, that bolt on the top of the chopper that holds all the blades on, if the jesus bolt falls out, then the next person you will be talking to will be Jesus Himself.. :) What holds the protaganist together, the environment, the Universe? The Jesus Bolt does..

Based on my actual experiences in the late 70's (except for the drug use, and sales, of course) during two summers flying in choppers covering the northern part of Alaska, where I saw actual Evidence of Global warming (which is covered in this book as well), and Oil Companies killing and polluting the creatures up there, a place where Nowhere in the world, during the fall are there MORE animals than the Northern Slope of Alaska, nowhere.

Not really about Christianity, but more an exercise in comparative religion, and philosopy, it's got it all, sex, drugs, rock and roll, the environment, spirituality, etc.

Already have some Hollywood interest in it and I haven't even approached a publishing house as yet..

Wish me luck, I think a LOT of DU'rs will enjoy a Two fisted, fighting Irishman ready to take on the corporations after exploring the tundra and his inner Self, experiencing major Growth as a human being, which many might find rings a bell within themselves. A good way to keep the Caribou and other creatures in the forefront of the Environmental movement, with the addition of Mankind being the Stewards of the Earth.

Whatta ya think? Am I going to catch the Wave here? :)

17. Probably about all I can say for now
Getting the cover finished up, has a playful 70's style to it, we've been noticing (my wife and I) that there's a whole movement graphically on television and print towards organic 70's style art/graphics -- The Independant Film Awards were nearly psychedelic with their backgrounds, and one famous actress was actually wearing a Nehru jacked and LOVE BEADS :)

One of the scenes which I hope will be made into a film for all to see, that I experienced was flying in a Hughes 500D at 150 miles per hour over flat as a pool table tundra, while perhaps a MILLION caribou swarmed beneath us, all meeting to migrate. I saw the ENTIRE EARTH ALIVE at that moment, nothing but antlers, shimmering fur from a low lying sun on the horizon, rainbows from the combined breath, the furry flesh of the earth crawled beneath us, ALL LIFE, from horizon to horizon. IT was a Religious experience, and epiphany, and I want everyone to see what I saw, they would be changed forever, and fight that much harder to save all creatures..

Got to get back to work on it, have one final run through for spelling, fixing a few small things and then BANG, it's off to the printers, once I've got 20 copies of so, I'll send an executive summary off to the Hollywood people and see if they all want to get this story in Gear, get it to the Public.. sometimes it's easier to get someone interested in a work for film production and THEN publish..

It's my opus, been working on it for five years now, and I'm excited :)

Thanks for your interest, can't wait to eventually share The Jesus Bolt with DU'rs!

we've cobbled together for the first draft, trying to make it playful, yet evoke the spirituality that the protaganist experiences in the middle of nowhere, inspired by the plethora of wildlife the Right wing would have you believe don't exist, that there's only a snow covered void..

They ain't killing all that life while I'm alive, at least one bird from every state in the US travels there to reproduce, and many from all continents, and that's just Birds :)

The story goes from psychedelia to love of the Earth, and all it offers, when you open yourslf up to it..

Let me know what you think, folks, we're gonna take those corps down with LOVE, baby :)

25. Thanks for the feedback
my wife is in her thirties and I'm clocking in at 54 now, so I remember the style, which is being imitated everywhere I look on Television, and what the kids are wearing now, I hope the sensibilities of that age, brotherhood, friendliness, searching for meaning in life as the number one priority come back too, hopefully I can assist..

So the wife has an idea, but I KNOW what it was like, and how it should look, so there's the closest I can get.. but having another voice say it makes a big difference, much appreciated.

I also hope it's a must have, and that a lot of people will read it.. just changed all the names in it to 'protect the innocent', and now I'm reading it on a last run through, for typos and such, and it's like I'm seeing it with brand new eyes, and I LIKE IT :)

Good to have made something you LIKE when it's all yours, eh?

Now all I have to do is keep Hollywood and New York from distorting the message :)

Thanks for taking the time to post, I'll be sure and post here the minute it's the Real Deal!!

Be nice to have a DU'r make the NYTimes Best Seller list, and if it's good enough, maybe the DU can put me over the top, and I know Alaskans like to Read a LOT, at 50 below zero, they DO read, not much else to do :)

16. Scarborough is big on Jesus
He was really giving it to Bill Maher the other night; he feels America is "out to get" Christians, and that there's a open season on them. He has a real persecution complex.

20. What a really stupid subject. I would like him to tell me just exactly
how "they" could stop me? Prayer is a mental activity and does not demand special circumstances. What is forbidden is public displays of prayer. Again what fundies do not understand is the the Bible actually forbids the "street corner showoff" type of prayers.
